Do you guys think that Jade actually changes in appearance if you wear it. I have seen on some websites that they say that it doesn't but my jeweler says it definitely does. What do you guys think. I have never worn my for an extended period so I can't say.

My bangles seem to look more luscious and shiny when I wear it... and in one of my lavender/green bangle...the color green seems to appear more and taking over those area with lavender...so I decided to stop wearing it for a while... :)

They're apparently very pretty IRL & look translucent, and are much cheaper than jade :D

Thanks for putting ideas into my head, Storm Spirit! :graucho: Bad news for my piggy bank :D

Chalcedony and agates are quartz and have a hardness of 6, which is just a tad less than jadeite, but they are much less tough and thus are more brittle. It's the toughness not the hardness which makes jadeite durable. All that said, I've carved agate with my tremel tool using diamond tipped points, and it is amazing how tough it is! I'm sure if you gave quarts a strong impact though, it would shatter.
BTW, last night my B jade lavender bangle fell from my dresser onto the bouncy wooden floor....and shattered into 8 pieces! Talk about the compromised strength of B jade, sheesh. I am a little sad because though I stopped loving it after discovering it was in fact B jade, I thought of it as an expensive accessory. Oh Well.

Sikat- Jadebuddhashop looks legit, their prices are similar to JOJO, but I don't know anything else. I've wondered the same thing.

The chalcedony looks nice but still lacks the regal look of jadeite.. Haha.. trying to save my piggy bank.

Unfortunately so, but these days jade with translucency like those chalcedony bangles are way out of my budget  That and I don't think you can get pink jade.

I'm actually quite tempted by a rose quartz bangle... they're so pretty!

This one is only $75

My grandmother wears an all-green bangle with a small blob of darker green. She said that the cluster has changed from a dark green to a vibrant green, and has started to spread. While i'm not sure of the spread, i thought the green is indeed more eye-catching now than before.

My jeweller has been wearing a snug light yellow-brown icy jade bangle for the past 20+ years. When i complimented on how it translucent it was, she told me the jade became clearer over the years, and that recently she noticed some new veins of colours developing that were not there before.

Maybe I should wear my jades more faithfully!
