BreadnGem, I went back on this thread and saw your lavender jade bangle. It is so beautiful. I saw where you were having a hard time deciding whether to get it or not. You made a wise choice! It is gorgeous. If you didn't buy it you would have a difficult time finding another one like it. I was lucky because I didn't even remember that I had a lavender jade bangle. It was in my safety deposit box for about 30 years. I didn't really appreciate jade in my younger years. Last week I went to clean out my safety deposit box and found it. I was pleasantly surprised. I love jades now so I was happy, happy. Do you know how much lavender jade bangles cost now a days? I am really curious. Aren't we all so lucky.

Silver Mom, I haven't seen much honey jade colours where i come from, so can't tell. But your lavender is really a beauty. If you had gotten it 30 years ago I believe it's worth a lot more now. What a nice surprise to find it in your safe deposit box. Hope you enjoy wearing it! :)

Druzy, I am JUST THRILLED to have found it. I am almost afraid to wear it because I am such a rough person. I don't want to crack it. LOL. Do you know if all jades have to have crystalline structure? I believe my lavender has a lot of crytalline structure but my honey jade does not. I am worried that my honey jade is treated because of the lack of crytalline structure. Bummers.

Silver Mom, other than getting it professionally appraised, there's no 100% way to find out if jade is treated. The other thing you can do is casually walk into a trusted jade dealer wearing your bangle, and as you get more friendly with the SA, they may offer you some insights on whether your piece is treated.

Very good quality jade actually don't have obvious crystals... they command a high price because of its smooth and translucent appearance endowed by nature. That's where the problem lies: grade B jade pieces are made to look like that.

Thanks :smile1:

I bought mine for abt usd1000 a yr ago but the sa gave me a discount. I cant remember what the original price was. I havnt seen another one like it since ;)

BreadnGem, That sure was a good price. Your bracelet is gorgeous and worth every cent. What a good buy you had! Lucky you.

Thanks. It was actually a discount on top of a discount, lol. The shop was having a clearance sale. I tried on the bangle but didnt buy. A few days later i called to ask if it was still there. The SA remembered me & offered me a further discount if i was interested :D.

Sadly i have not worn it much.....i wear my watch on my left hand too but i hate having my watch & bangle bump against each other. I dont like to move my watch to my right wrist & i cant do w/o it so i dont know what to do.....

Why don't you wear the bangle on your right hand and the watch on your left. I do know that some people don't like to wear it on the right hand side tho. Do you think it gets deeper in color if you wear it a lot?

Druzy, Wouldn't you be able to tell a Grade B jade by it changing color after a while tho? I know that they try to make Grade B to look like a really nice Grade A jade but would the color stay? Don't you guys think that jade is so fascinating.

Silver Mom, I was told by some jade dealer that the quality of polymer / resin used is quite "lasting" now. May last for a long time without any change in appearance.

And in the first place is Type A jade really "alive" to actually absorb energy and change its colour spread or intensity? Much as the myth is seductive, I haven't witnessed it personally. My A and (suspected) B bangles look more or less the same since day one.

Not sure if I should be relieved or disappointed? :p

I did think of that but the bones in my right hand are stiffer so i have difficulty getting the bracelet on & off there, haha :D
