Thank you for your reply's. My father purchased the bangle for me from an Ebay seller and this is what we were told. It is 100% non treated jadeite raw materials directly from the Maoming province before 2000 which has been conserved for many years. Origin is Yunnan province China. I asked my father is he could get me another in case I ever broke this one but the seller said the jade can not be reproduced twice, so I think I'm out of luck. Because it came without a certificate, I'll never know exactly what it is, unless I take it to a professional, but I love it just the same. I wish my camera was better so that I could get the moon glow effect. It changes a different hue of green in different lightings.
I found that even though it's not tight on my wrists, when I wear it on my left hand, it seems to cause a throbbing sensation. When I wear it on the right, I don't have that problem. I can wear my other jade bangles on the left with no troubles. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking the throbbing could be from it being smaller than my other's and may have hurt the bone going on. I did manage to get it off with soap and warm water.

It's a very pretty color and very nice gift from your dad : ).

Yes i supposs the pain could be bcos u hurt the bone or something. Is there bruising? I once bruised my hand badly while trying to remove a bangle

Thank you for the compliment on my bangle, and oh yes, there was a bruise on each side of my hand. The pain lasted 4 days until I switched hands and put another bangle on the left hand. Carefully put this bangle on my right, and that's where it's going to stay....for good. lol

I just discovered this thread the other day and have loved reading through it! I have wanted a jade bangle for a few years now but I didn't know much about them and being in the UK I wasn't really sure where to get one from.

I made the decision to buy a cheap, obviously not the real deal, jade(?) bracelet from ebay. That way I can see how I feel about it being on my arm and check I have the right size before I take the plunge :smile1:

I think to buy the future expensive bracelet I will head to a Chinatown. I'd rather see it in person than online I think, and I'm so wary of buying a fake. You see websites listed as reputable on one forum then on another forum you hear that a bracelet was checked and found to be fake! It seems like a minefield!

I've loved seeing pics of everyone's bracelets. I'm after a pale green colour I think. Also I have large hands so the cheap one I bought is a 65mm. That's a tight fit (plastic bag time) with a metal bangle, so interested to see how it is with jade!

I would never want to wear something that I could not take off - I feel like you're just asking for trouble - especially if you're only option is to break it off, ouch!

I would also be careful buying jade online - it's actually a tricky stone to buy in general because there are actually two stones that are sold as 'jade'. One is super rare and expensive 'Jadeite' and there's a much less expensive stone called 'Nephrite' which can come in some beautiful colours (from a frosty pink to an apple green), but shouldn't demand the same kind of dollars as Jadeite (sometimes called Imperial Jade).

It's not super common knowledge, but most of what is sold as jade, both inside and outside of Asia is actually nephrite that's mined on the west coast of Canada. I'm lucky that I live next to one of the largest Chinatowns in North America, so sourcing jade jewellery is easy. But when it comes down to it, its the colour that's important - and I think that's impossible to determine over the internet. If you're planning on making an investment into a jade bangle, I'd wait to find the right one (both size and colour) in person.

You CAN take the bangle off - just the way you put it on, don't have to break it;)

I've never known the differences between nephrite and jadeite, not until you mentioned it. I wiki-ed it, looks like nephrite generally has a dull luster while jadeite is described as "Subvitreous, pearly on cleavages", which I believe results in a more transparent look, also, there's tiny difference of hardness on the Mohs, if that's the case, then somehow it is relatively easy to recognize them?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and also a jade lover myself.

Love the jade pics posted by Storm Spirit and Blingaholic!

One needs a keen eye and plenty of experience to differentiate good quality grade A jadeite from the Bs and Cs. Found this out through a lot of trial and error myself. And when buying jade, since the good ones are so expensive, it's still best if you can eye-ball it and feel it before purchasing.

I recently came across so-called "grade A jadeite" that looked blurry AND felt light for its size. Definitely been treated.

Anyway, like to share some pics from my own collection. I believe one of them is Grade A jadeite and the other is probably a B. The B was my first jade purchase it was an impulse buy... no research done prior to buying. After that I got more interested in jade and did some homework. Some years later I bought the other one and it came with authenticity cert.

But the honest truth is I love wearing both! :D
