haha! I know! I was suprised to find out that python skin is listed as a controlled substance, but, honestly, I work with people who have the proper licences to export exotic leathergoods. Still, usually, if it is for a US client, it is usually better to just get the skins from my supplier in the US and have them made in the US. However, it can always be a good idea to just keep them over here and that gives you an excuse to come to Paris?

i would LOV a natural python clutch like the lauren merkin one you pictured earlier!
how would i get it though?! the flight to paris alone would probably equal the cost of the clutch
maybe someone in another state can get it and ship to me. or, i can meet them in vegas. :graucho:

It looks like (if all goes well) I am coming to NY in August, maybe we can set up a handbag underground railroad for you!
serioulsly, I am meeting with my python man in the moring, I will be posting his colors after the meeting! and, I will post a canvas version of what I have in mind ASAP, maybe more than one.
Let me know what you think would make your heart go pitter patter, and I will see what I can do!

I love python, I have Dior shoes in black and red. They are expensive!! Are you going to do maybe a ultrasuede, python mix? I would love a little evening clutch. I am not sure all snake is endangered, I have some leather friends that use some. My LV with Lizard has it's own papers to travel with internationally, but not my shoes. One pair is the python bondage shoes from 2003. Oooo, I am excited to see what you make!

I spent a WONDERFUL time with my python guy this morning ! He had so many beautiful things to show me! I have a color card, but, when I scan it, it is just too big and when I reduce it, it is just too small! So, what I propose to do is take your requests and post your colors choices and I will scan those colors individually and post them. It was such a pleasure to learn so much about python this morning and the way the skin is cut, fascinating! I am used to working with crocodile and alligator, but this is my first venture into python. I started with the most complicated and I am working my way down! Hahaha.

First off, this man had so many possibilities I almost kissed him! My favorite was this buttery, and I mean, so buttery soft skin, I just almost died! I have never seen such a lovely skin! So, of course, I was inspired enormously!

While I was there, I had the opportunity to buy a beautiful skin. It is not python, but lamb. I don’t want to double post, so I will start another thread to show you!

It is amazing how the licensing works for these critters, however! I have been assured that if I find a distributor in NY I can bring the bags over under their license! Anyone know a handbag distributor in NY? I am on the case! Discount or perhaps, if you sweet talk me and find me a REALLY good distributor, FREE BAG for anyone who finds me a distributor in the US and gets them to make an agreement to import my bags. Does that sound fair?

It is really fascinating! So, if, for example, the python originates in Singapore, then it needs some papers there. After, it makes its way to Italy to be tanned, it gets another tracing license, then, when it goes to my distributor in France…you guessed it! Another license. When it goes to my manufacturer, we get yet another license, and in order for me to bring the bags to you, I need yet another one. I will happily take this challenge, but would rather prefer to find a wonderful American bag distributor who can handle that for all of us. I prefer to create!

So, I will just begin by posting a couple of color choices which have already been mentioned, and then take your requests to find more.

Won’t this be so much fun if we can make this happen?

I will post a photo of my ideas in canvas next week. Yawn! I should stop for the weekend!

sigh. I am trying to get this to work, to show you the colors, but I am not having good luck with my internet connection! I will get them posted asap, but, unfortunatly, I think it is not ment to be for tonight.:shame:

darn it, I have no idea what is happening with my computer, but when I click on the paperclip, nothing happens! It used to work, but, now, it seems to not be the case anymore. odd. I am really, really trying to post these leather samples. Maybe I will have to find another solution. Any suggestions?
