i love the look of python, but can anyone tell me how it lasts?
does it need special treatment/conditioning?

Python seems so fragile, but it is not nearly as fragile as it seems if the skin is of good quality. You just use a mild conditioner made for snake and other reptile skins, as one for smooth leathers will cause a build up.:flowers:
flower to my fellow Jennifer:yes:

thanks! do you ever have to worry about the python cracking as in regular leather?
i wish python wasn't illegal in california though... it is such a beautiful skin!
"jennifer" is an awesome name, oui? :flowers: flower back to you! :D

Honestly, I have never had any problems with python. True, the skin is going to be more fragile than some other exotic leathers, but it holds up, very, very well. I have a little clutch that I carry all of the time. I am forever throwing it in a tote bag! I am not that careful with my bags! Shame on me! I am here picking at mine right now! Nope, those scales aren't going anywhere, and the skin is very pliable, no cracking! I love the texture and the way it feels in my hand. Again, it depends on the quality of the skin I am so picky about the quality of the skins I use that I really never worry!

Illegal in California?. what a pity. So much is illegal in California these days

^ yes, python is illegal here... finding a way to get a python bag into the state is difficult, but i don't know what would happen if you managed to smuggle one in- maybe i would be the first PF member to be arrested over a bag?! LOL

haha! I know! I was suprised to find out that python skin is listed as a controlled substance, but, honestly, I work with people who have the proper licences to export exotic leathergoods. Still, usually, if it is for a US client, it is usually better to just get the skins from my supplier in the US and have them made in the US. However, it can always be a good idea to just keep them over here and that gives you an excuse to come to Paris?

If you want to see a stunning red python bag, go to www.vivianmendal.com and click on Carlos Falchi from "Vivian's friends" there are some there from Anthony Luciano as well. They are to die for. Valleyopressed, there is a natural one there from Anthony Luciano which makes my heart go pitter patter! hahaha! No shame, I will plug the other designers! My collection for Vivian Mendal is not on the site yet, but, I am so excited that it will be within a couple of weeks. You know I will be bringing everyone’s attention to that event!

I have a meeting tomorrow morning to chose the skins! So, if anyone wants to see something special, let me know and I will try to get a scan for the color! This is fun. I love my job. You are all so great! (I already said that, didn't I) :flowers:
