I'm popping into this discussion at a late date, maybe your question has already been answered. I got a box kelly somewhat over a decade ago. IMO it's a leather with a less heavy look than Epsom. And of course it gets scratched. But I quickly got used to the scratch potential from shoving it in a desk drawer, etc., and just grew to like it for what it was. The scratches are a sign of use which means to me the bag is not sitting in a box. Scratches give it a character which is analogous to what people say when they get wrinkles ("I earned every one of them"). Now, I should get it to spa.
