"Push Offer"

Thought I’d bump this up. I got a a B30 etoupe in tadelakt, which was a push offer. Not sure If I want to keep her. Is this box leather worth keeping? Is this a rare item that I should keep or store credit it for a typical leather like Togo or Clemence? How is your Kelly holding up with the scratches?
I'm popping into this discussion at a late date, maybe your question has already been answered. I got a box kelly somewhat over a decade ago. IMO it's a leather with a less heavy look than Epsom. And of course it gets scratched. But I quickly got used to the scratch potential from shoving it in a desk drawer, etc., and just grew to like it for what it was. The scratches are a sign of use which means to me the bag is not sitting in a box. Scratches give it a character which is analogous to what people say when they get wrinkles ("I earned every one of them"). Now, I should get it to spa.

Box bags in production right now are rare. Not sufficient enough for stores to order it at Podium so Hermes sends it out when they can. I would think you are a valued customer and one your SA thought would appreciate the leather. Not all customers can or want to carry it. Congrats and enjoy!
I got a box K a dozen years ago b/c it was in the boutique and I liked the shininess of it. It's going to spa soon, needs it. Since box was not impossible to get a dozen years ago, what makes box leather such a specialty item these days?

The stores cannot order it now because supplies of good enough quality are very limited. Thus it can’t be ordered, reserved for VIP customers or bought easily. I too saw a Vert Fonce Box 28 Kelly GHW in the store in Lausanne years ago. It was just too mature for a student like me back then. But the stores could order it and they had more Box bags in more colours in stock then.

Thanks periogirl, for clarifying this. Excellent information!

Several years ago I had the chance to speak to a Hermès craftsman and she told me that Epsom is Box leather which is not perfect and therefore is "stamped" and turned into Epsom. Also she told me that the leather craftsmen prefer is Barenia (hardly surprising!)

This might be a stupid question but does anyone know what a "Push Offer" item is?
My SA told me that a “push offer” is a very limited quantity of a unique style, size or color of something they will offer only to their VIPs first. It’s something regular clients can put on their wishlists but more than likely, that particular unique piece will be offered to their VIPS first. For example, our store only received one Birkin Sellier in a size 35 and one in a size 40. Those items were given from the SM to their top SA(s) to offer to their VIP(s). If they pass on that item it is then offered to their regular clients. That normally never happens as the SM orders 1 maximum of each design and knows exactly which clients they most likely will be sold to. I thought (years ago) that a push offer was “an overstock” they needed to get rid of, boy that couldn’t be further from the truth. I have been schooled LOL. These special items are in addition to what the store will already be receiving. The SM keeps a record of unique pieces (style, color, or size preferences) that would be of interest to their known clients. Of course, this all depends on the size of the store and location. I have been offered push offers that were never even brought into our store (just saw a picture of the items). Unfortunately, not my choice in color or size so we graciously turned down the offer. When I later asked who that item went to, I was told that it never made it to our store and another item was chosen by the SM instead because their known clients (VIPS) had told their SAs that they wanted a particular color, size or style of a bag that was available on their push offer list for them to select from. And all this is very different than a “push present” that is given to a lady when she pushes a baby into the world LOL

H generally reserves push items for items that they cannot guarantee stock for due to leather supply or craftsmanship issues and also sometimes for low popularity reasons or high popularity reasons. (Ie they still want to sell some B50s but it’s not an in demand style enough that a store will be willing to use their budget toward so H just sprinkles some to stores at random. vs a Himalayan bag which they want to keep low stock numbers on even though every store would order a dozen if they could.)

They are also not just for VIPs. While it may be true that VIPs are more likely to have large collections and be more open to buying a bag that’s a little unique (box leather etc), they are often offered to any client who the store thinks may love them, just like any other bag.

Hi, I was just offered a “push offer” Kelly 28 bag. For future reference, does anyone know if you accept a push offer bag does that count against your yearly quota bag allotment? Do you essentially reset your spend ratio if you accept the bag?

I actually declined the bag because I am waiting on specific colors.

Curious to know what were the specs of your push offer Kelly?
