Purse Hooks / Hangers

Cool! I've seen these before but always felt weird about the thought of my purse dangling on the edge of a table - I get worried that someone will just grab my purse and run out the door! So instead I just end up putting my purse on my lap...is that being too protective? :p

I think it would depend on the table and your seat. I bet in many circumstances you could put the hook between you and the wall, you know? And better next to you and dangling a bit under the table than on the back of your chair! I'm hoping to order a hook soon, but I often put my nicer purses in my lap, too, unless there's room for it in a chair or something. Depends where I am.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a purse hook? If so, how useful is it and can you recommend a brand? I'm normally more of a Caviar girl, but lately I've been purchasing a lot of Lambskin...more babying gah! :sweatdrop:
I've attached a photo for those of you who have never seen one before

I just ordered one just like this on Ebay, can't wait to receive it :smile1:

I honestly never thought I would be one of those people to whip out a purse hook in a restaurant. But I finally decided to do it today. I had a really nice purse with me last night that is light in color and I was at an outdoor restaurant with no place to put it and it was annoying to put on my lap. I didn't want to put it on the ground because it was basically the outside ground!

So... I'm getting a purse hook. Yes, I still find it ridiculous maybe even embarrassing, but I kind of want one at the same time. Is that bad? I am sure I will look high maintenance with one of these things lol. I'm browsing for them on ebay as we speak. :hrmm: Does anyone else have one? All thoughts and comments welcome!

I don't think it's "high maintenance" to use a purse hook (and more power to ya if it is:tup:). I not only use one, but bought one for each of my gal-pals to use when we go out for our girl dinners. Some of the best restaurants in my city (Chicago) give them to their female customers to use during dinner. We gals at tPF  our purses, and the last thing I want to do is plop my designer, or just plain loved, purse on the ground or dirty floor - not to mention that it's easier to be stolen that way! Here's some places to pick your own:

I've personally bought from Flo's, but the others look fine to me! Enjoy, and take care of your purses!

i use them! i'd rather look silly then have my bags ruined. plus, i got one for my mom and one for my sis. they all love them.

don't feel bad! your purse will stay clean. that's all that really matters.

My BF's mom is one of the ladies behind thepursehook.com, and she gave me one. I used to keep my bag on my lap, but I'd end up spilling food on it anyway! It's especially great for outdoor restaurants. I don't think I feel high-maintenance by using it -- mostly I just feel less stressed about making sure my bag isn't getting dirty or ransacked. :D

edited to add: They're also really sturdy, as I tend to carry all but the kitchen sink around with me, and I've never had a problem.

What a great idea! How much does one weigh? My bag weighs at least 2 lb when empty. Throw in a 0.5-lb bagmate (organizer/protector), a digital camera, 2 cell phones (one from my husband who always asks me to carry his), 2 wallets (You guessed it. One is from my husband), a small mirror, and some misc cosmetics. I am afraid to add any more weighs to my heavy bag. Thus, I'll consider buying and carrying a purse hook if weighs 2 oz or less.

With regards to the four recommended models above, which one is the best? Why?

I've seen them at Bed Bath & Beyond. They were $9.99 for two, I think (one silver and one gold). I almost picked them up but then decided not to. The package said they could hold up to 35 lbs!

I actually ran into this problem last week at an outdoor patio. I could have really used one of these.

Does anyone have a favourite out of the purse hooks listed? I'd rather get quality rather than quantity, so price isn't really a factor.

I have a purse hook where the hook part wraps aroung the base and the whole thing looks like a circle. I got it from Blue Bee about 1 1/2 yrs ago and I don't think they have it anymore but someone on this forum showed something exactly like it. If you search the threads, you will find it. What I like about it is that it goes in your any size purse because it is so small (yet mighty - I've hung my bag and a friend's bag on it or my bag and an umbrella on it at one time). Good luck in your search.
