I'm not a John Legend fan so it is perplexing to me as to why he would be chosen to represent Prince in song. I guess because JL is basic and likable? To me he is like a great big bowl of boring oatmeal while Prince is fun and spicy.

I just feel like there are so many other artists out there who could do way more justice to Prince and who would love the opportunity.

Harsh but fair.

My guess is he really wanted to be part of the convention (perhaps he’s a big donor?) and this was the way they decided to fit him in. It’s not likely to be any deeper than that.

I would have rather seen Morris Day!

Plus a genuine connection to Prince.
Legend did ok. It was not as offensive as Jlo singing Motown….

Sheila E should have done it without him.

Far more energy too.
Totally agree.

Sheila E did one of the best tributes to Prince I have seen.

She did a tribute to him at the 2016 BET Awards and it is personally one of my favorite tributes I have seen an artist do for another artist.

Wish the quality was better but here is the tribute for those of you who haven't seen it.
