I was alwasy under the impression he refused it, hence the drug use, but apparently absolutely everyone who knew him said he did... ?

I didn't thin he had the hip surgery either. And as someone who had their right knee replaced, I can attest to bone on bone pain being awful. Only relief was being off my feet. No wonder he was taking Vicodin...
I saw the performance. didn't change my opinion that he wasn't the right guy for it
