Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

Harold could have done the same and gotten a superb education instead of becoming a joke.
Have you read his book?
He admitted he wasn’t academically talented. His history professor had to make a ruler with all the British monarchs on it so Harry can use it to remember them.
He had a lot of tutoring, he said, so he could meet graduation requirements at Eton.

This must have been pre-Bronze Age.

What struck me about the Oprah interview was the look she affected. This isn't her usual style. What was she aiming for? The Lady of Doldrums? Pre-Raphaelite beauty risen from the dead? She has not repeated this look, so it stands out to me as a costume aimed to trigger a certain response in the viewers.

That article mentions something I didn’t know. Back long before Fergie and Meghan did it, Charles tried his hand at writing children’s books! Seriously, he wrote a book for 8-10 year olds about an old man. This was in 1980 before he was married and even then Charles was already stodgy. I’m sure his book was much better than The Bench though.

I thought his book was cute. I remember when it was published. OTOH The Bench set a really low bar to surpass.

What an absolute muppet!

They keep harping on her success as a royal. The only things she appears to be successful at are weeping, skiving, gaslighting and spending Charles' money.

Awwwww, I think that is sweet. It shows he was looking forward to being a father. He used to write the boys letters when they were at school.
OMG, you and I see it oppositely!

I read the book’s description about an old hermit who lives in a cave and spends his days roaming the Scottish hills near Balmoral and thought that it was sad because I think that is what Charles wished his life could be. He wrote it before he was engaged so I’m not sure he was thinking about having his own kids. From the review it has funny moments for kids though. It made me wonder if Harry is going take a crack at kids books at some point.

Charles wrote another book about the environment called Harmony 20 years later. His kid’s version of the book might have missed the mark a bit according to this Amazon review.

I purchased the "adult" version of Harmony to give as a present, but returned the children's version. Just can't see how it would interest or make sense to a child. The author is clearly unprepared for a dialogue with children!

I only 'pick' mushrooms at the supermarket, I wouldn't trust the silver spoon method…
Charles had access to so many resources and took advantage of them, good for him! Harold could have done the same and gotten a superb education instead of becoming a joke.
It makes you wonder if the difference between the two has something to do with Charles's stricter upbringing relative to the more relaxed manner in which Harry was raised. In wanting to have a closer relationship to his sons than he had with his parents, Charles may have inadvertently created the monster. I'm not saying Harry should have gone to a strict boarding school like Gordonstoun, but there apparently weren't a lot of consequences for his actions while growing up. Or maybe he is simply a dunce.

Occam's Razor

It occurred to me that Sparry may be an example of Nature vs Nurture. Is he by nature greedy and entitled, or was it a result of an upbringing which shielded him from consequences?

“You are a BIG ACTRESS in Hollywood,” fawns the interviewer.
“Oh, hahahahah…!”
Suits wasn’t filmed in Hollywood.

I can’t get over her facial expressions.
“And love yourself!”:yucky:

To me she comes across as a perfectly likable but typically LA young woman there. She was never going to fit in with the RF. She should have set her sights on an older Hollywood guy instead of her fantasy of finding Prince Charming overseas. Everyone would have been better off. In comparison, Grace Kelly was more sophisticated, refined and ready to escape Hollywood when she married Prince Rainier, hence the relative success of their marriage.

Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” (T Edison) I'm afraid perspiration has nothing to do with Harold.

Note the light skin  She looks so much better without the heavy, dark makeup [esp around the eyes] and without the heavy, super dark setting on the spray tanner and without the jet black straggles. Also, looks younger. Less really is more.

Many staff members have stated Hazz was shielded by indulgent parents. He should serve as a good warning to parents.
Thank you, he would be awful. Imagine the complaints [I just wanted to check out a book, not hear a book report].

He is best wondering his hills imo.

Nailed it, Yep, roaming the Scottish hills sounds like KC. Maybe he and W can work a deal, kinda like he did with QE.

She seems to have a roving eye, always looking for something better to come along, if the stories of her cheating on Trevor with Cory, and cheating on Cory with Sparry are true. Her true calling may be that of a mistress. Why was she aiming to hook a rich Brit anyway? That always felt odd to me.

She couldn't hook a big fish in the US and she harbored the notion that British men were more gentlemanly. There is evidence to suggest she had princess fantasies from an early age, despite her claims of being an independent feminist.
