I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Being Northern Irish and a Unionist I strongly disagree an awful lot of us have no time or respect for KC as we did for his beloved mother

I am also Northern Irish and a Unionist and whilst I adored the Queen I feel Charles has an impossible act to follow. Even without all the complications of his past and although his image has generally improved he simply doesn’t have the time to make such a positive impression.

Went to see Elton John tonight! There was a nice video of gay pride, gay marriage and the general diversity and inclusive cast ruined by a picture of H&M's wedding portrait.

Before we get too excited or upset let's remember the tour was supposed to happen 2 years ago. I don't think they'd be in the mix if the video was created 2023.

I'm at bit miffed though. I had a VIP pass and still EJ didn't send a private plane. The least I expected was a tiara and a private plane. Anyone invites me to their next farewell concert, I'm staying home to arrange a birthday party for my my cat.

I think Charles is popular with the average Brit/Northern Irish. Anti-monarchists will always be anti-monarchy, they just didn't stand a chance against the late Queen, so now they feel 'obliged' to voice their opinion.

Harry's unpopularity has a large impact on the bearing of the RF overall, which is why presumably anti-monarchists support him. If Harry was an anti-monarchist, why doesn't he renounce ALL titles? And if anti-monarchists are so anti, why are they hanging onto the coattails of a Prince (and TW)?

I'm aiming my question more at those that support Harry because they're anti-monarchists.

Harry is part of the monarchy, which is why I can't understand it.

Just putting on my tinfoil hat: maybe the anti-monarchists support him because if they overthrow the BRF and install Sparry and Zed as the new rulers, they can mould Nutjob and Nutmeg into the kind of monarchy that the anti-monarchists prefer? I'm speculating that they correctly surmise all the twosome want is money and bragging rights, so they can be turned into a carnival sideshow to bring in tourist $$$ while costing less than the current royals.

As a resident anti-monarchist I submit that:-
1. People who want H&M to be king are clearly pro monarchy they want a change in management- that’s not what a republic is.
2. If we use the organisation Republic as an example they are explicitly against everyone in the family:- ‘the problems are not changed by changing the line of succession- we need to abolish the monarchy now.’

3. I’ve seen 1 republic video from a year ago where M and her accusations are mentioned but H&M are not the major point of it there even:-

Unfortunately H&M are the centre of an enormous media campaign and everything they do gets PR from the likes of the DM- granted it’s negative publicity but it’s still far more publicity than a lot more worthy causes get a sniff of…. Why should we begrudge pro-republic organisations that do use the H&M cause celebre to their advantage in getting interest? This claptrap is going to be in the news anyway because they pay for it. Pro-monarchy content like lady C use the H&M pr all the time.
5. Let’s not forget how many people on Twitter may actually be doing anything to get controversy and clicks and may even be bots that spam things so they may say obviously contradictory stuff just to get attention.
6. In general, I think it’s good to have a diversity of opinion and that the possibility of abolition is finally being discussed again.

Well, that should be easy.

Perhaps a reality show ‘hazing with Harry’ where sorority girls compete in survivor style endurance challenges? Final challenge is wearing a wig made out of a live rat king- shouldn’t be too hard as M does that everyday anyway.

I don’t respect anyone who takes a job they aren’t qualified for. Least of all when he’s told the Brits to stump up 50 million (more than the Queen’s ceremony) to salve his inferiority complex.

Too many of those types around at every level of society. I've got one of them sitting in front of me - quite an eyesore. The sad thing is, this woman used to be quite good at her job. But she didn't progress with the times. She stagnated and became a relic of the past. She is holding on to her job now because her current supervisor has known her for decades and is still giving her second chances.

Just kidding, sorry the EJ concert did not measure up. Not surprised just sad that the rumours are true - he needs the money. I do hear that Bruce Springsteen, the Boss, is still a phenomenal show.

I hope I didn't give that impression, I'm so sorry if I did, that was quite wrong (and unintentional). . The EJ concert was truly full-throttle, entertaining and musically accomplished, a fantastic gig. I was never an Elton fan and I was truly impressed.

David Furnish is CEO of the management and Creative Director of the show/tour, and it's probably him that we need to thank for the Gap and Benetton style 'advert' videos (nothing wrong with either brand - just saying).

The one second image of H&M in once of the vids (didn't end on them, they were just part of it), as some kind of sign of accomplishment in our progressive society, that a Prince was brave/daring/woke enough to marry a WOC, I could have done without. I do not see either one of them as progressive, more regressive. There is nothing new in entitled, greedy people wanting not only more, but lauded as they help themselves to more (elderflower and lemon drizzle) cake. It does show me, that people don't see them as people - but symbols. Oh boy do they milk that.

5 years down the line after that portrait was taken, no one sane can possibly think that these two are a symbols of anything but malevolent narcissism, selfishness, stupidity and utter greed. I do question why they were left in the video, they are not beacons of hope, they are malignant tyrants. What does it say about Charles, that he lets these two still hog the agenda, hold the country to ransom and the 'news' with false media narratives?

Imo W is not just any sibling. He is now the heir. He and Hazz are not equals in this institution. William needs to make his voice heard, frequently and clearly. In the beginning of this H&M mess, I gave W a pass, excused his compliance. Now, it is time to speak up.

W has his millions, his succession is sealed. Imagine if he publicly called for Hazz to renounce. It is time.

I think he’s qualified as much as you can be for a monarch, I mean he’s learnt at the knee of our longest serving one. I don’t think there’s any possibility of Charles giving up his position but who knows. I do think the monarchy is a lot less relevant today and that is a major problem for now and the future.
