I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Reading that article (Thanks for posting it!!) I realized something interesting.

The two pieces of Princess Diana’s jewelry that MM has worn are her “freedom” pieces. There’s the massive aquamarine ring, purchased in ‘96 to replace her engagement ring. And the Tank Francaise from ‘96 to replace the gold Patek Phillipe that was a wedding gift from Charles.

There’s a couple other pieces that MM has worn that have been attributed to Diana, namely the 80s butterfly/omega cuff set, and a tennis bracelet that Harry pried stones out of.

I find it interesting that Megan’s major pieces are all post-royal Diana, worn for less than a year.

Anyone know what happened to the gold PP? That's a serious watch. Some of their ads sell the idea that they will become family heirlooms.

Their PR has it all wrong. They are treating them like they're politicians. I don't know about US (and the rest of the World) but here in the UK we don't care if they love each other or about to divorce.

We don't like them together any more than separately. We still despise them both.

Is this not a thing? Coming from the stronghold of carnival I don't think much of dressed up adults (or actually, I do but only because I'm a joyless Grinch who hides inside all during carnival eating donuts).

Personally, I don't care. M looks better in her sexualised and inappropriate 'Jangle Jane' outfit than in anything else she wore as a Duchess, but it's an outfit she's obviously eminently comfortable wearing.

At least they're not sporting swastikas (this time).

My only criticism is they continue to be way too generous with the amount of hair on Waaaghry's head. Position him in front of a moderately good source of light and you can see right down to that empty head of his.

That is so true! Prince Todger, Duke of Tadpole has a ring to it. I'm still wondering if someone who works for KCIII could put in a word for him to demote Todger. Just give him a title (which he can't refuse) that makes him turn red in the face every time he's addressed by it. Maybe do a group deal, remove Dukedom of Sussex, earldom of Dumbarton and barony of Kilkeel from him and replace them with something else. Or at least leave him with just the Dumbarton.

On a semi-deep dive, I found a whole lot of rumors, discovered that Charles’ watch collection is impressive, and I still have no solid answers.

I started to take notes as I dived, and was surprised how few jewels were hers, and not a gift from a jeweler, her family, the queen, or given during a state visit. It was a lot smaller than I expected - approximately 60 pieces. 5 were Butler and Wilson costume. 9 pieces were acquired between ‘96 and ‘97. Of those, Meghan has worn 3, and the other 6 were gifts from Dodi. Kate has worn 6 pieces that were Diana’s (not including items that belonged to the queen and were lent to Diana) Bracelets and earrings made up over half the list. All of Diana’s tiaras were loans.

As for what happened to some pieces after her death - good question. Diana requested her jewels be held by her sons for their wives. And 10 pieces have been seen on Kate or Meghan. Others might have been worn, but it would be hard to tell because they aren’t as distinctive (Pearl studs, gold bangle, ect) The Spencer’s also descended like locusts; they hold on to a lot of personal affects that were supposed to be distributed to Diana’s 17 goldchildren to make their Diana museum. So they might have held on to a few jewelry pieces - she certainly held on to enough Spencer pieces in her lifetime. I also don’t know if the Dodi gifts were returned to his family or if they’ll pop up in two more generations


As for the Patek, it hasn’t been seen since a year before Diana’s death. William is rumored to have requested the watch he learned to tell time on. The two watches Diana wore between ‘82 and ‘90 are the Patek or her Louis Cartier tank.

At the very least she should have worn a hat to cover that disgusting hair. Looks like she just rolled out of bed and forgot to brush her hair. How disrespectful to show up looking so unkempt for her first outing with the Queen.

It’s such a shame because a felt mid brim in cream with a black ribbon would have tied her outfit together. Obviously burn the weave….. possibly take it off her head first.

I know we’ve said it before but not fitting in with your new relatives is not a big deal. I mean if your in-laws like you it’s a plus but really only one of the family chose to form a bond with you and obviously the idea they didn’t all die of happiness at meeting such a big celeb was a mortal wound.

Exactly! I was about to say the same thing. Not only was her hair messy, it looked greasy and filthy, probably used 10X amount of product. She'd have been better off washing it and starting over. When you're going to have a huge outing with Queen, wouldn't you spend a little more time than usual getting ready? I have to wonder if she not only ditched wearing a hat, but purposely showed up in long crappy hair. That was embarrassing.
