I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

This makes zero sense. Senator Feinstein is retiring at the end of her current term which ends in 2024. She is not leaving before the end of her current term. She announced that she will not run for re-election which means the ********s will have to field a new candidate to run in the 2024 elections if they hope to retain that Senate seat. There are a number of prominent ********s, including current California Representatives Adam Schiff, Barbara Lee, and Katie Porter, signaling that they want to be the ********ic candidate in the next election to fill the seat Senator Feinstein. California has a primary system to choose the 2 candidates that will run in the general election to fill retiring senator feinstein’s seat. The primary system means a popular vote, not an appointment made by the Governor. The only time California Governor Gavin Newsom would be able to appoint someone to fill a vacant senate seat would be if the Senator retired and vacated her seat before the official end of her term which is not the case with Senator Feinstein. And btw he would be appointing a successor NOT a predecessor.

Actually, Dianne Feinstein said she would not run again and there are other prominent California politicians who have started their campaigns for her spot. Of course, it is possible that Feinstein would retire before her term ends but that isn't her plan. So I'm not sure that although Newsom pledged almost two years ago to nominate a black woman if she does not finish her term is that relevant now... Just my opinion.
But anything the SP episode does to squash Megain's political aspirations is good news in my book.

DF is 89yo and planning to retire at 90yo, it might be time. There are plenty of people competing to replace her, I don't think TW has a chance. However, I wonder if Newsom has considered this possibility in 2021. TW seems to have been working on this for some time now. Let's see what she will be able to get from Getty…
