Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

I know we're not supposed to get political but I would actually love to hear from one of those women, I think she has a lot of value to say.

And I didn't realize people thought Zendaya was wretched
I wouldn't call them wretched (well, not most of them) but I do roll my eyes at the opportunity! to hear from these women (yet again, for many) whose lives are so very different than a 'regular' person's due to their wealth, privilege, position, etc. Motivational speakers aren't my thing in general, and I don't find a lot of value in hearing a sanitized, PR-approved, only-the-good-parts story of how they 'made it' and how I can do the same!

I also think it tarnishes the actual accomplishments of most of these women to have others like Meghan included in their company for this project. IMO it doesn't build Meghan up; it pulls the rest of them down. While that may not bother Meghan, it bothers me and I think it should bother the rest of them.

One thing H&M have been VERY good at is shining a light on some of the aspects of the PR/celebrity/pay-for-play awards/faux-lanthropy circuit that I never knew existed before they came along. While I'm oddly grateful for that, sadly, I now look at everyone's efforts in these fields with a jaded eye, especially if H&M are involved.

That's totally fair. From what I can tell this is a free app with daily short clips, some kind of cute and funny...seems kind of harmless and I doubt most of the other celebs care or even know who else is involved. I was just honestly taken aback at the comment and how many posters apparently agree these other women are all wretched (which to me is a pretty strong word to describe at least two of them).

Just a thought today... I always find it funny M is referred to as the "first American member of the royal family". Yeah, maybe if you think "full American" (however that is defined as). But Diana had an American great-grandmother. William is part American as is Harry.

@OriginalBalenciaga FWIW, I'll often hit like on a comment, even if I don't agree with every word. Your thoughtful response also reminds me that I'm fortunate to be in a position to be able to read the full book, watch the interview or speech, etc. if I want to. However, not everyone has those resources and bandwidth, so if a quick hit on an app works for them, who am I to judge?

It's not SP, but…

So cringe. No Harry, I’m sure the room attendant - erm, none other than the HOTEL MANAGER - didn’t notice there were TWO breakfasts on the tray. I mean he only rolled that trolley from the kitchen to Meghan’s room. Who would look down at the tray to see what was on it. Oh Harry, you’re a dumb f*ck, you know that? Also, not noticing your “prince-shaped body” beneath the duvet?
See, there’s this thing called discretion? People in many professions utilize this unheard of behaviour. Maybe you should learn a little about it.

I gotta laugh though at how he really identifies himself through his title. He doesn’t refer to himself as a man hiding under a duvet, but a PRINCE. I imagine myself writing a similar ‘oops I got caught in my lovers hotel room’ memoir someday. “He whispered to me to hide in the bathroom but.... the pizza delivery guy didn’t notice the professional figure skater turned LPGA Tour member beneath the duvet... I sprang up from the covers gasping for air....” LAWD!

I mean, that was a real transcription from his book yeah? It’s so.... well frankly it's boring af, but just so so so *cringe*

WTF??? If that's true Harry's head needs to be on a figurative pike.

This needs to receive a lot of press and I hope there's proof too! I mean, it doesn't sound like much but it is incitement to revolution in a way which might be considered treason. If they are involved in such activity, they need to be exposed now. These people CANNOT be invited to the Coronation!

I kinda doubt there is proof...a lot of BS is out there about the two grifters
