Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

But William and Harry were not treated the same so it’s really not apples to apples. After Diana died, Queen Elizabeth was concerned enough that she had William join her for lunch at Windsor every week while he was still at Eton. Those one on one conversations with the Queen must have been invaluable to William. This was something that the Queen did as part of William’s preparation as the future King. It would have been so interesting to hear what those conversations covered. I don’t believe Harry was given the same opportunity while he was at Eton. I think much more was expected of William, as the heir, and he received a lot more specialized attention and training and probably had a more regimented daily schedule.
Absolutely, but we were discussing their parents. Haz had plenty of knowledgeable family members to go to if he wanted. They were born for different roles. One could argue that Haz had much more freedom than William ever will, and much less responsibility. The amount of sheer pressure on William from a young age must be horrible. With the amount of sheer privilege Haz has had throughout his entire life, I have a hard time feeling sorry for him. Many people lose a parent as a child. They don't use it as an excuse to become a horribly entitled, self-serving a$$ hole. He's had access to the best teachers, the best of everything really, and people would've fallen all over themselves to help him since he was a Prince, if he truly had wanted to learn. He himself has admitted he had no interest in learning anything, or even reading.

I saw that article and found it hilarious that she thinks Archie shows the "racial diversity" of the royal family. Those kids are whiter than white
Sudden thought: if H & M ever split up, she might wail that she was the victim of a BRF racist plot to dilute her proud WOCness. I know, it sounds insane, but she is so fond of rewriting her life that it might be possible. And Doria will definitely be claiming that she saw red flags everywhere but her Flower was in love, so she didn't stand in the way of  and $$$$$.
He himself has admitted he had no interest in learning anything, or even reading.
I would have avoided him like a hot t*rd. In fact, I am mildly embarrassed to admit that I once gave the "it's not you, it's me" speech to break up with a boy who bragged that he was not a keen learner, took foolish risks, and was a coward. I suspect he thought I would be impressed that he already knew everything he needed in life, would approve of his reckless driving, and would think well of his plans to jump ship at the slightest sign of danger.

Yes. If I remember correctly, Sarah now has custody of the queens corgi's. Which would suggest she's firmly on the inside, no?
As I recall it was Sarah and Andrew (but mainly Sarah) who found the Queen’s last corgi puppies for her. This was done with the understanding that they would take care of the dogs when the Queen passed away. The Queen loved having dogs around her but understood that at her age she was unlikely to outlive them.

Gosh, why is someone paying these people to spout their sickness-inducing nonsense?

That Louise O’Neill is the same age as the Sussexes, Irish, and anti-royalist. Naturally she is going to side with them. She makes her living writing young adult/children’s fiction.

She readily admits to being rather a shallow woman when it comes to them:

I listened to Spare as an a audiobook last month. I thought the ghost writer did a fine job — although I did lose the will to live when Harry was discussing, in great detail, how one might fly an Apache helicopter. I’m only here for the fisticuffs over flower-girl dresses, please.

That dress is awful (imo)! It is definitely something TW would have worn though so maybe she was there in spirit.

I'll wager that it still looked ten times better on Cate B than it EVER could have looked on the Ghoul.

Anyway, Galadriel can wear anything and look good.

Gollum, not so much. :yucky:
