Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

Im just curious (because I live in a different country to the USA) but why is every woman/girl in the picture wearing white and the same cut of dress? (Including MM)

It’s usually a bridal thing (or Maybe a cult? lol)

this is so odd to me, but is it’s normal in the USA For graduations?
Can't answer as a fact, but I wonder if it's an all-girls Catholic school thing? My daughter is graduating from a Catholic girls school soon, and her cap and gown are also white.

I don’t know whether Diana was a good mother or not. But Harry had two parents and one of them didn’t die when he was only 12. Why does Charles get a pass for not raising his son right? Who better to teach Harry how to be a prince than his own father, the prince! He was too busy pursuing his own interests and he didn’t spend enough time with them. The boys were pretty much left to their own devices as teens. Maybe Harry’s drug and alcohol problems could have been avoided if his father had been paying attention to what his son was doing.
I don't think he gets a pass. He was accused of being a horrible parent for a long time. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors, nor do we know whether Charles paid attention to them or not. William had the same two parents, Charles included, and he seems to have turned out pretty well. The best parents can have rotten children, and some amazing people have been the product of absent or abusive parents. I'm not one who subscribes to the notion that "everything is my mother's fault".

But William and Harry were not treated the same so it’s really not apples to apples. After Diana died, Queen Elizabeth was concerned enough that she had William join her for lunch at Windsor every week while he was still at Eton. Those one on one conversations with the Queen must have been invaluable to William. This was something that the Queen did as part of William’s preparation as the future King. It would have been so interesting to hear what those conversations covered. I don’t believe Harry was given the same opportunity while he was at Eton. I think much more was expected of William, as the heir, and he received a lot more specialized attention and training and probably had a more regimented daily schedule.

My mother gave us all extensive need for therapy (not all of us followed through). We don't generally use that as an excuse to be a disfunctional, sh*tty person who doesn't even try though.

It’s definitely a thing here, usually for private school graduations. We had to wear all white when I graduated.

That’s true. Diana was glorified immediately after her death beyond what any human ever should be. That isn’t her fault. Dying tragically at a young age, particularly a troubled individual, earns iconic status. Marilyn Monroe was incredibly f*cked up and she’s still an icon after 60 years. In recent years, however, the pendulum has swung the other way and it seems like Diana is getting blamed for everything under the sun. I get that. Writers need to write juicy books to get published and dead people cannot sue you. I remember watching Diana on TV with her boys and it was obvious she loved them deeply. Maybe she could have disciplined Harry more as a toddler, but nobody can say it would have made any difference in how he turned out. Harry’s basic personality is something he was born with.

Charles has always been old-fashioned and traditional. He grew up in that era where raising children was left to women. William is spending more of his time with his children and hopefully none of them grow up to be bitter and resentful about him.

I seems as if Diana was the one tasked with most parenting. And she didn't just allow him to be a naughty toddler. She encouraged his bad behavior, laughing about it when called to schools, etc., telling him to be as bad as he wanted but try not to get caught. Having one's mother behave this way will have a big impact no matter how father behaves. And I will bet that H didn't dare try that crap when his father was present.

True, but also, didn't the boys have a nanny? I can't see a royal nanny standing for that sh*t either.

Where are you getting this information from?

Oh my god it’s the ciirrrcccllle of liiiifffeee :lol::lol:

If this person really is a sugar and a Disney adult then I think a suicide watch should be permanently stationed for their whole team but chances are this is all just empty PR for some of the big corporate flops of this year.

I take it he can’t lift lily up to the cheering zebras and elephants because she’s got a cereal ad that day.

Totally agree with idea that they shouldn’t be encouraging using the kids as a PR stunt especially given we’ve heard ad nauseum about how H resented being used as PR stunt when he was 13(?) never mind 3(?)
The only child who might be present is George. I would be surprised if all three Wales’ children were there. You never know, but no others.

Too bad they're not a little older. Then they could be doing Medicare Supplement Plan commercials on TV like Joe Namath or William Shatner.

If you're sick of the Snarkles NOW, just think how bad it could be. View attachment 5714760
Reverse mortgages like Tom Selleck, except they willl never get close to paying off theirs. Lol!

Fwiw, all of those stories have been posted here - with documentation. Alternatively, a quick google of Hazz’s bad behavior should provide a lengthy list.
For what it’s worth indeed. As I recall a lot of the documentation we’ve gone over in this thread came from books written years after Diana died. From what we’ve learned recently, I can’t give as much credibility to books as I did before. It turns out writers aren’t all truthful. By relying on the anecdotes of conveniently unnamed sources, they spice up what otherwise would be a dull read. They also outright lie, as we’ve seen quite recently.

There was a time when I assumed if it was written in a book, by a respectable author, that what I was reading was factual. I don’t make that assumption anymore.
