Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

@QueenofWrapDress I hate surprises too. I went to a surprise 60th BD party for a friend at a restaurant. She was really upset because of what she was wearing. She thought it was just meeting her sons for dinner and didn't dress up. I felt her pain.

Right! I need to be prepared.

Good surprises: bring my favourite pastry, tell me you are taking me away for the weekend the weekend before, buy jewelry from my wishlist after reading the notes detailing what I hate about the piece. Bad surprises: driving to the airport when I thought we were grabbing lunch, proposals in public, vow renewals in front of our friends I didn't know about, buying expensive gifts I hate because I am very particular, pets.

ETA: that happened to my mother's friend. They told her she was doing a cooking class with her husband so she turned up in clothes that could have stains and no m/u. In fact it was a dinner with a private chef for 20+ peoplefor her birthday. I'd have been murderous.

The fact that H&M were invited by Portia (since it was a surprise, it obviously wasn't Ellen) speaks of desperation on both sides.

Thoughts:
Ellen looks kidnapped
Megs is wearing one of Harry's ol' army tents
Apart from Harry, everyone looks like they came round for a BBQ. Perhaps, this is what H wears for a BBQ?
So Portia gets to play/photo pretty and Ellen wears - gardening clothes(?)
I'd be furious if someone presumed I'd want to renew my vows without any say in the ceremony - or if I'd want to
I wouldn't take part, even as a guest, in this birthday party/renew vows hybrid-hijack-hack
Why is Portia wearing big white wedding dress except to go shopping for one? Obviously, MegZ would understand, can't think why she didn't buy another (4th) for this party too?
Why are the men/women separated?/?

Desperate Real Housewives or divorce courts cannot be far off for either or both couples :sunnies:

This is old though. From the 2021-2022 impact report of Well child.

not sure why it’s circulating again? An attempt to ride in Catherine’s launch?
It appears this was released by an MM fan on an Instagram. The WellChild site lists Harry as our patron, with his titles. The outgoing director [mentioned in the last paragraph] left in April, 2022.

Is it a So Cal thing that natives ask questions and then interrupt before the person asked can answer or as they're asking? Seems so rude.

Welcome to a common practice in America. It's done in TV "journalism" and in D.C. Congressional hearings all the time. To the extent that the questioned party doesn't even really need to be present.

Meghan didn't do the interviews for podcasts???
That is correct, she did not interview ALL the guests, she did do the marquee interviews - Serena and Mariah, but not ALL the misc people whose names are not well known
In some parts of podcast, MM does an intro and an outro to around what the interviewee says, the whole thing made to look like she personally interviewed all
This came out - disclosed by one of the 27 people listed on the Archetypes credits ?? a person who really did the legwork

Note to Claw: When one sees photos of the PoW, she's usually listening intently to someone else with a big smile or expression of genuine concern. When she speaks, it's with kind words. She doesn't whine, feel sorry for herself, is grateful for all of the royal perks, and therefore is thought of very highly and with great respect. Claw...not so much. Constant whining and casting herself as nothing but a victim is making her money, but not winning any friends. Her A-lister wedding guests are nowhere to be found  .

All these tweets, articles, etc. out there saying Harry is insisting on this and that before he’d agree to attend the Coronation are trying to frame the narrative as if he has all the power in those negotiations, assuming of course there are any negotiations. With those 2, you can never tell what’s real and what is just their usual bs. I’m having a hard time believing that he has any power to affect how he will be treated at the coronation. The first big assumption is that he and TW are actually invited. Second assumption is that even if they are invited, does anyone, including KC, even want them to attend? Third assumption is that if they are invited and do attend, why should he expect not to be relegated to the outer reaches of Mongolia in terms of the seating for the various coronation events exactly the way he and TW were handled during the Queen’s Jubilee? As one of the Queen’s grandsons, he had a role to play at her funeral. But as a non-working, non-senior member of the BRF, and taking into account King Charles’ intentions for a shorter, more streamlined coronation ceremony, what role could he possibly play in the proceedings other than just another spectator who would not be seated in the first row or other prime seating. If The Queen’s funeral mass is any indication, he should expect to be seated in a spot obscured by a giant floral arrangement or candle

If you skip to about half way in, there is an interview with the woman that runs the House in Habit Instagram account and they talk a lot about the despicable duo and then the Elon / Amber trial. It’s pretty interesting.

Thank you for posting this. These ladies did a great job on the Harkles saga, they must be members here.

Based on Harold's interviews, I believe the Harkles' demands are real. The media, by exposing these demands, make it more difficult for Charles to accept them. He will not want to be seen as a weak person who gives in to unreasonable people imo.
