Prices going up?

LV will do that as well, it really depends more on the manager and/or sales associate you're dealing with. I was ordered to take an LV bag back that was nearly a year old, and the customer had damaged it herself. I was disgusted by the crap that lady was pulling, and the manager just said that she was a major customer so do it.

Personally, I don't want any glasses that I know I'll likely be returning for a quality issue down the road. It's a waste of time.

YUP - one of the crystals fell out of my sunglasses which were bought about 8 months ago. But when I brought them to Chanel, what did they do? They gave me a brand new pair. What would LV do? They'd tell you it's "normal wear and tear" and send you on your way.

Difference between LV and Chanel.

Yeah, on average the canvas lasts A LOT longer than leather. Ever see a leather bag/tote/briefcase that someone has carried for years? It gets worn so easily, and when it comes to suede or lambskin, it can't take the abuse.

The LV items I took in for repair were all over 10 years old, and with, I'd say, 75% of them, they were daily-use bags. One woman brought in her 20-year-old Speedy, and she was frantic as heck to get it back in her hands. She kept calling and calling asking if it had come back. ONE time I saw the canvas wear out before the leather, and LV replaced the bag. As for cracking, I never saw that happen with any of the bags I handled.

You think so? I dabble in LV resale, and I've seen 5 year old speedies with cracked canvas up the wazoo, down the middle, all along the canvas by the zipper. My boyfriends wallet is a year old and the canvas is cracked down the bifold bend. I've seen speedies under 2 years old with cracked corners. Canvas dries out easily, and it cracks.

I used to sell Chanel, and they have some of the worst sunglasses on the market. They got returned A LOT because of quality issues.

One reason is because Chanel itself doesn't actually have all that much to do with them..Luxotica does. They are in charge of most major sunglass lines today.
However, my mom and I have about 6 pairs of Chanels between us, some with the Swarovskis and nothing has happened to them at all. I don't even keep mine in the hard case in my bag and the stones are still there and in perfect shape. The only thing that happened with my mom's mother of pearl CC ones was that she dropped them on the ground and they landed on the lens, and got a big scratch right down the middle of the lens. So she had to have the lens replaced..they did it for free though.

One of the Luxotica companies I DO notice has really bad QC problems with is Yves St. Laurent. My mom had a pair of their reading glasses with the Swarovskis and she had the frames replaced about 5 times because the stones fell out and the settings turned green. I'd be more hesitant to buy anything else from them than I would Chanel.

i can imagine the day when we'll debate between hermes birkin and mono speedy 25 ... believe me

That'll be the day. I'm beginning to think my LV days are over as well. I can't take it anymore. I remember how much more affordable some of their goods were a few years ago. Nothing really seems to justify the constant and rather ridiculous hikes. I may have to head to LV this weekend to take one last look. Oh well. At least I got my speedy, pochette, and wallet.

Yes, it sucks that LV is raising prices- but honestly, no one is forcing anyone to buy the bags, and if they can get away with it, I say all the power to them. If I had a product that people would be willing to pay more than I was currently asking, I'd raise prices too. It's just good business. But hey, I'm not too upset- more exclusivity is better anyway.

 I totally agree! I was always under the assumption that price increases occurred only in February and September. But everyone on here is saying one will happen in the US on June 2nd. At first, I was skeptical, but when my boyfriend called Rodeo, Beverly Hills to be placed on the Reservation List for my Damier Speedy 25, I asked him to confirm the price.

The SA told us they would release the purses on June 1 and we would be able to pick mine up no later than June 2nd. The SA also made very clear that my bf would only be responsible for $585 + tax. Which leads me to believe there is indeed a price increase effective June 2nd.

Couldn't be because of the millionaire tax break, huh? THEY can afford it, not us hardworking LV lovers.... s*&t... that truly sucks:cool:

BUT, they also pay more taxes than most people make in a year, if they're that rich. My parents are not millionaires but each time my dad gets a raise, he hates having to pay the taxes on his new wages. For example, with his last one, I think it only averaged out to about $10 extra per payday after taxes.
There are always exceptions, of course, but I definitely wouldn't place the blame solely on tax breaks, as there are a plethora of other things that factor into these price increases.

could it be that LV noticed if consumers see that there is a price hike every 3 months they or either more turned on to buying more bags faster or justt turned off completely,...either way LV will get a fair share of customers who will more likely buy 1 or more bags sooner due to price hike and then there are a few LV lovers who just wont care....

Actually, that's not true in all cases.

I saw a wonderful investigative piece done locally. They profiled/investigated a number of individuals at varying income levels. Due to tax breaks of various sorts...some of the millionaires were paying LESS in taxes per year than people making $30,000-40,000 a year.
