To be honest... I don't expect that we'll fare much better in the US... sadly, I expect that the 6% figure that you were quoted may be the minimum increase... at least... on items of interest to many of us (i.e. silks, jewelry, leather goods...)

That's a larger percentage than my SA told me, which was approximately 6% on all items as of January 13th in the USA.

I was looking through some of my older Hermes 90 silks the other day. Two of them are four or five years old, from Bergdorf Goodman, and still have the price tag of $385 on them. So it seems there wasn't too big a price increase in scarves in recent years to get it to the current (pre 2014 increase) $410.

I suppose it must also depend on how the dollar stands compared to the euro and VAT and import taxes etc now compared to a year ago. The prices on the Swedish website (the items I am familiar with cost wise) have increased comparable to the increased rate of the euro.

In my experience... price equity has historically appeared to be lacking on H.com across countries. So I wouldn't expect the price increase... to reflect currency exchange rates. Rather... I would expect price increases based on a corporate formula... respective to our different markets and the increases in the costs of production and manufacture. (But even that... doesn't explain the significant variabilty in the increases. Perhaps... H has taken notice of the robust resale market... and is considering reseller markups - "tests" - for what the market will bear...)

Nevertheless... the price increase will arrive here in the US before we know it... :smile1:

How complicated to be an accountant at H, LOL.
I guess it is the same here. I love Ralph Lauren but the items tend to be much cheaper in the US than here, even when the rate of the dollar is higher. You also seem to have sales more often as well on Neiman etc.

I don't think it will slow any of us down but when you look at the increase of the Kelly & Birkin that's another clic clac I could buy but I'll still be buying another Birkin this year & possibly a Kelly so it won't stop me but I will make sure I really truly love something before buying it. :graucho:

No, not slowing me down either, I just recently discovered H heaven. But re designer goods, I select the items I truely want and only buy a few items per year anyway so as long as I stay away from bags, the increase just amounts to a few skipped lunches in town. I do want a Kelly and I count on 2 increases before I can get the bag after ordering one since the waitlist is up to 2 years now here.

With all these price increases, I wonder if it'll still be worth making the trip to Paris to buy H...

I suppose it depends on how far you are travelling from (=how expensive it is to travel and how long it takes) and if your sole purpose is to buy H especially if you are looking for a K or B bag since it is obvious not every one gets to buy one.
