It's because of the price disparity and price increase disparity between the UK and EU.

There’s a price increase yearly on Jan 1. What isn’t normal is the percentage of increase, in this case 10%. For the most part, the increase has usually been 3-5% depending on the item across departments. However, there has been significant price increases in the UK within the last few years. It was 8% in 2017 and 10% in 2018 across all departments and this year it was 4-5% increase. As is, the disparity is enough for one to buy a Eurostar ticket to shop in Paris and still come out on top especially if one buys RTW, shoes, or jewelry.
And one can easily argue about the quality being upheld in the recent years but that’s a topic for discussion here instead.

They do but the increase is 3-5% in general across departments for prices in €. I doubt there has been a 10% increase in € on any given year. At least not in the past 5 years that I know of. At the heart of it, Hermès is a French company and they still want it to be exclusive yet “accessible” to the French, if that makes sense. This is one main difference between Hermès and other brands like Chanel which has gone for global standardization in pricing or VCA and Cartier, where the former can have more than one price increase in a year.

Last year there were rumours of 10% in the U.K. but in the end the increase was v small- around £10 more on a 90cm scarf. Anyway, I’ve bought my one scarf of the new season from France, just in case

Not to mention the price increase in the US is staggered by departments, usually starting end of February going through March which still allows one to purchase items from the new season unlike in Europe, especially for silks. From my understanding, price increase on exotics, especially crocs in general are always double digits percentage wise
