Price increases 2020

while visiting my boutique last night I wanted to purchase some shoes, unfortunately they didn’t have my size, my SA recommended buying a pair and then exchanging them for the right size when she got them in to avoid a 10% increase at new year! Couldn’t find a thread on next years prices, so mods please move as appropriate. I’m based in the uk.
Now that new prices have gone into effect, can safely say that there was not a 10% increase (was a general increase like it was last year). That said, bag prices are now 1:1 for £ to € (or at least seems to be for the few I check). E.g., Plume II Mini is £4500 vs €4500 now. Silk prices remain slightly lower and it seems to be the only department where the pricing isn't 1:1 or higher.

I popped into the store on 30th Dec and my silk SA told me that if there was to be an increase, it would be like £5-10 on silks and he was completely right! So I don't understand where the 10% increase came from.

@Meta you are right, and it is true I see Euro and UK prices being same for bags.

6650 for 2002 bag in £ and €

presumably same will hold true for B/K/C

I think it is time to stop buying bags from UK lol unless it may be a very rare combo? (Note: they did this already to shoes last year and I stopped buying shoes in UK...) as Brexit is being fulfilled there is certainly an upward trend for the sterling in 2020 which will make it harder to justify the currency differential (as an example. on 1st Jan 2020, currently £1 = 1.1825, ie price are 15% cheaper in Euros)

Just repeating what I was told by my SA, she was obviously misinformed, can’t understand how though as she is the DM of my store. On the bright side I did save some money on the shoes and the hit on my wallet on other goods I’m waiting on will not be as bad as I feared!

I'm in the EU but not using the EUR. The H site has a 10-12% increase on some items like scarf rings and 70 carré. Right now the old price shows through search and when you add to bag it has increased by 10%.

Edit: the clic H which I purchased in Dec has gone up by almost 9%. I guess they try to bring each item to a nice even figure but the price increase is real.

Glad I bought a couple of bandanas through the French site before the new year. They worked out at just over £152.00. The price today in the UK site is £175.00 per bandana, in France it is €185.00 which works out at just over £156.00. Nearly a Twenty Pounds difference!!! I believe the UK went up by £10.00 the France site by €5.00. I shall now add a pithy comment... So much for a common market.

Hi dear.
Could you please let me know the price of a silk carre 90*90 in the french website?
Thanks

Was there already a price increase on 90 silks ? The actual price is 375 euros.
Yes, it was previously 370€.

The price on the French website is the same on any EU website that uses €. So the price is 375€ now. ;)

Hi, I have primarily been purchasing in my own currency until now. Whenever you want to check availability or price in another market just scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a country name, just click on that and you will be given the option to change countries.

Whilst not the apocalyptic 10% (phew!) it's disappointing to note that alot of items are not even at parity £/€ now e.g. ready to wear, which is significinatly more expensive in the UK, before you even look at currency conversions.

Whilst the £ has tanked in recent years, as stated, it's much stabilised/improved of late and I wonder if part of this has been to discourage international tax free shoppers from spending so much in the UK/bringing them closer to local currencies, whilst it's us locals that suffer. I know this has been a huge problem over the last few years due to the £ value.

Thanks to all who have done the recon work on this @Meta @chicinthecity777 @azukitea and @Mandycharlie

Yes prices in £ in RTW and leather etc are actually slightly higher numerically compared to € even before conversion! Only silks prices are closer to parity.

Thanks!
I find it difficult to comprehend the rationale behind the £ to € pricing given UK is a market in such close proximity to the continent. International (non EU) shoppers may still claim VAT rebates, to offset the shortfall. So I doubt this would dampen their enthusiasm to shop in the UK. This pricing “strategy” seriously discourages UK locals to continue shopping at UK stores. Paris has much better stock availability and the difference in price could be enough to pay for that train ticket to Paris.
