I think I'm already done with my H collection. At these price, it just seems excessive beyond my means to keep pursuing these ridiculously expensive luxury items.

With out of control global inflation, and wage stagnation (- growth), the rich keeps getting richer and the poor poorer. Even middle class is getting poorer and poorer day by day. I think there'll still be a lot of wealthy people who can still afford Hermes without a care, but I suspect middle class people will be priced out of the luxury market.

Ahhhhh! You've hit my ideal nirvana point. I'm still stuck with Mr.GGA in the "wait. you mean they're more than $2K? how is that possible?" phase. I hate this phase. I'd be willing to start a study about how many purses one has to buy before DH gets to the "barely twitches" stage...I'd even be willing to volunteer as a test subject!

ETA: Thank you, Katel! I'm very pleased with it. It's such an easy bag to carry. Plus, I thought I'd have to wait at least another 15 months before it came in.

now why can't my paycheck reflect the price increases in EVERYTHING in the world??? sorry, just bitter that i was denied a 2% pay increase even though i have been without one in 2 years....

but seriously, more price increases? i think i'll be on a bag ban for indefinite period of time:sad:....and perhaps only the occasional small accessories/scarves:push:

Hawaii prices are same as mainland (not counting ANY sales tax rate). My black 35cm birkin in clemence was $8300 in March 08 and same in beige swift was $8400 in May 08.

Oregon is one of the few states which doesn't have any sales tax. I don't have to pay out of state sales tax when they ship to Oregon ... but we get nabbed with state property tax. I do pay for shipping and Hermes just increased THAT cost last week (probably because FedEx raised their prices - I know Hermes doesn't make money on shipping fees as we have used our FedEx number and the price ended up being higher than what the boutique quoted us their estimate was).

I'm pretty sure that DUTY FREE is still cheaper than regular boutiques. And your pricing is before the February 2008 price increase.

I think people are hearing this from actual Hermes salespeople, because it's been discussed for quite some time now. It just means I have to load up on all my dream scarves and small H accessories now before the increase...

Maybe the resellers are adjusting to the market? I'm guessing there are less people out there willing to pay $15K for a birkin now. More and more people seem to be tightening their belts, reducing spending.

you know what... this pisses me off... i know i just posted but i'm getting more upset now... i used to only love leather products, but after walking in to the H store and browsing the leather, i cast my eye on the silk scarves and the SA tied one around my neck... it felt so cool and amazing, so much better than the small assortment of scarves i have from Macy's... and now i'm stuck in love with H scarves!! :cursing: just now that they've got me, they have to pull themselves even higher out of reach! i don't like being teased!!
