The only thing that makes us cheaper than Britain is your VAT, and when you put their price increase along with the increased VAT, you'll always be higher.

How do you make that one out?? A 35 togo Birkin is £4,030 which is $8,060

I think a 35cm togo here is $9,000 plus more like 9300 or 9400USD..plus tax.

That sounds pretty ridiculous, but at least in the U.S. my DH thinks it's because of the Euro/$ exchange rates & costs of transport. I wonder if import duty went up too, When I had a bag shipped from FSH, DHL chargerd me $ 910 in duty tax on a 6000 Euro bag!
I am never shipping again... I'll go get it myself!
I will still shop, but be more selective on what I buy.

I bought a 35 cm togo birkin on Friday (see avatar, lol), and the price was $8300, before sales tax. Unless they hit the US with more than a 20% increase this summer, a 35 birkin in togo will still be under 10K.

wait I got confused. Birkins 35cm used to be $8,400 AFTER tax...now they are that BEFORE tax.

Yea, 35 togo birkin 8300. US pre tax, I think in HI pre tax prices are slightly higher because tax is low around 4%

The dollar has actually been pretty stable against the Euro at about $1.55. They're raising prices because they'll be able to get away with it.

yes, but there is still a discrepancy -- a carre is currently priced at 265 Euros, or roughly US $410. the increase would be bringing US prices in line with those in Europe.

OMG! Very expensive indeed nowadays in USA. And its even horrible here in my home country (Asia) that the price is based on US dollars
But in hawaii still cheaper that in the mainland right? Last time i check around oct 2007, 35 swift at H store in DFS only USD $7330 (tax free).

yeah I say get em while you can, and well done G......(makes me happy I did my amassing the last two years, mostly via resellers). Hermes will not stop raising prices ever.

I imagine we'll all adjust to the price hikes. Scarves used to cost $225. Etc. I'll continue to be very selective about boutique/full retail purchases but on occasion they can be justified.

Buddy up with your best resellers or do like docride - get a group together to trade/swap.
