Preference for LV made in France/USA/Spain...??

LV can be made in several countries including France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and the US. Italy is most notable for sunglasses, shoes, and even bags while France and Spain cover predominantly bags and SLGs (of course this isn't a precise detailed list but hopefully you know what I mean).
These countries are responsible for covering the global market but because the demand in the Americas was so high LV in Europe couldn't keep up and outsourced production to be local and to produce the most popular designs such as the Speedy, Keepall, Neverfull, Delightful, Totally, etc. (again not a precise detailed list). Occasionally a MIF or MIS bag will become available for sale in a North American store but it's fairly rare and is a result of Europe helping to fill an order...although I've never seen the SLGs MIU before so I have to assume that France and Spain are still in charge of those.

Very informative thank you, explains the differences and why I prob won't see Made in USA in the UK.

No, the only place you'll find a MIU is in the US, Canada, etc...would make for a good souvenir though if you were to ever visit. France, due to its close proximity, is pretty much responsible for covering the UK but you never know, you may come across a MIS piece (most likely a SLG like a wallet).

Lol I was thinking that but didn't want to sound odd that I wanted a MIU piece! We are heading to Florida next year so maybe you're right that'll be my souvenir. Although looking at the UK price increases we are still cheaper than the USA.

And I'd sound odd for wanting a made in Italy Speedy someday...it's different from the norm and that makes it unique as far as I'm concerned. You don't have to buy a full-sized bag when visiting when SLG's make for awesome souvenirs since they're small, reasonably priced, and collectable. LV has even been know to release certain colours for specific locations as well which is also interesting. I believe the colours Grape and Denim for the empriente line are only available over here.

I haven't read this (super long) thread.. But I just wanna say I personally don't care where the bag is made. As long as it's authentic, and as long as I am happy with it (no quality control issues at time of purchase, no misleading descriptions, price as agreed upon, et al), then it can be made in the moon.

That's just my personal thoughts on it, of course; and I am sure not everyone feels the same. There is no right nor wrong. What you like is what you like.

Caveat emptor, as the Latin phrase goes.

^There's no such stamping on LV.

LV has long been a globalized company. There's an old thread on TPF about the cloth tag, and lots of info on the multiple places LV is produced.
Wow, I made that comment like 3 months ago...I meant "Louis Vuitton Paris" I know what stampings are on LV.

Not sure if this is what you mean but my Berri certainly has Made in Paris right on the outside handle as well as on the inside tag

HIS/HER comment is that it doesn't say "made in," which is correct. But clearly after 3 months everyone knew what I meant! Like come, we know what stampings are on our bags.

Dear Jellyv: I made an error! I meant Louis Vuitton Paris!

Nothing personal was intended: I just added a factual comment, in case some reading don't know the ins and outs of LV stamping.
