there's always a risk purchasing from a stranger. so far my purchases are from japanese sellers and am quite happy. i am sure most of us get our items authenticated before purchase. that's just for the peace of mind but if a seller is dishonest there's nothing much can be done. i will continue to purchase pre loved and do a thorough research on the product and buyer.

I wouldn't trust anything on there now. I thought their Ralph Lauren Ricky looked really "off." Now I understand why.

Lol I just read through this thread. If you're referring to the black Ricky bag it's mine and definitely real-- purchased at RL Greenwich , CT. I have sold a fair number of bags through them, however I admit to never have purchased any pre loved bags through their site-- or anywhere else actually. But they have seemed reputable in my dealings with them as a seller.

You're responding to a post from 2012, did you realize that?

Yep. And as an owner of four Ricky bags, I have no doubt the one I referenced back in 2012 was fake. I was looking for a black Ricky. Only I wanted a real one. LOL!

As far as more recent responses, I do think it's important for people to realize portero has listed inauthentic items, like the Ricky I referenced.

As has Fashionphile. Get everything you like authenticated. The Ricky I referenced was a very good fake. But as a long time owner of several, was pretty easy easy to spot. I was disappointed. I really wanted a black one.

I think a lot of other people realized it as well. An authentic black Ricky bag would have been snatched up quickly. Portero doesn't realize people are more savvy than they think.

No matter who the company is, get your item authenticated! Portero is like other sites. They sell for numerous sellers, like Fashionphile and Mallories, without decent authentication.

Don't assume a fancy website means authenticity. It does not. Nor do posts on the forum, nor does membership on the forum.

Do your homework.

Plenty of "reputable websites" have fancy verbiage that mean nothing. People that insist on authenticity here? Also nothing. If you don't have reputable authentication, it's meaningless. A lot of people have insisted their bags on this forum are authentic and it's been proven are not in this very site. Scammers are VERY good at what they do

There are hundreds of eBay listings with fake bags with people who are "members" of the forum. They have caught on very quickly. Don't be duped. Always authenticate.

I just started buying pre-loved LV, and you really scare me now!

BUYER BEWARE: I think the seller LadyBag International on the antiques and interior decorating website 1stdibs.com is also another front for Portero. I pinned this Chanel bag 3 years ago and it's still on Portero! That's red flag no. 1 for Portero for me.

My Pinterest (date in the comments section. The pin's link is broken.):

Portero now:

Then while doing a Google image search I come across the same bag, same bad quality out of focus picture on 1stdibs.com and the rest of the pictures are identical to the ones on Portero.

I don't know for sure what's going on, but I just wanted to put what little I do know out on the internet.

Portero now:

http://www.portero.com/chanel-cream...le? Or being sold again? Don't see the issue.

Portero is a selling platform, not a single seller. Sellers offer the same items on multiple sites at the same time. So a bag can be on both Portero and on 1stDibs, offered by the same seller.

Yes, you're right and make a good point. The same seller could very well be using two platforms, Portero and Ladybag on 1stdibs, to sell the same bag... but for the past 3 years???

Also, couldn't the bag still be on sale? Or being sold again? Don't see the issue.

The bag could very well be on sale 3 years after, but a seller that can't sell his product that long raises red flags.

I don't think that the same bag was bought 3 years ago and is being sold again, because do you really believe that the current seller decided to dig around the internet for the old ugly out-of-focus pictures instead of taking his own new pictures? That doesn't make sense to me but if he did that anyway, that means he's lazy, not doing his job and definitely not worthy of the ~$3k he's asking for the bag.

More importantly though, for whoever the current seller is to use old pictures is very deceitful because those pictures show the condition of the bag 3 years ago, not what they look like now. Lastly, using the old pictures is highly likely to be copyright infringement or at the very least poor internet etiquette.

So either way, something's fishy.

Oh dear I wish I have come to this thread before I bought my vintage chanel kelly.
The portero vendor wrapped in a stupid lousy cardboard with no stuffing inside and sold it like some cheap bag n sent it to me.
There was no authenticity card no dustbag and it looked strange for a bag costing $2k usd.

Not going to buy from portero again.

I just bought a bag from Portero and it is FAKE!!! the pictures looked real, but when it came in it was in a box for another bag and it is totally fake!!! I paid 3800.00 and have sent them an email an left them a voicemail telling them to call me because I want a refund. the link to my bag is down but this is the same exact pictures from the bag they sold me, but they are charging more for it and mine was listed in EXCELLENT condition!!!
my bag said no refunds, but since its fake they have to refund me its in their guarantee.
