Depends where you are. Canada sometimes charges for above $100. Just hit and miss. I recently had to pay an extra $48 on a $360 shipment. Not from Polene, but just fyi in case you’re in Canada.
Has anyone received a Polene order in Ontario, Canada recently?
I’m hesitate to order due to receiving a huge bill for duties, taxes, brokerage fees, upon delivery.
I shop (for bags) with a budget in mind. I’ve been burned a couple of times; the extra at the door fees were more than the items!
Also, is it still true that ordering from the EU site is less expensive than the US site?

hi all, im considering a Polene Nodde in olive. I am new to the brand. I am seeing some reviews on Youtube that the quality is really suffering. Suggestions that the company grew too big too fast, leather peeling, bad customer service, etc, etc. Can anyone advise????

No doubt I don’t speak for everyone but what I’m seeing is as follows:

A couple years ago, Polene really hit a high note, at least here on TPF. Many of us were super impressed with the design aesthetic for the price point, which seemed generally also to have decent quality. Albeit there were always some hit or misses.

In the last year — IMO an uptick in stories of subpar quality, and unpleasant customer service. A lack of new colorways in the designs that won popularity amongst us initially.

Then in the last few months, a major rebranding, with a focus I think on diversifying their offerings i.e. now - Jewelry. More wallets. Misc items. Etc. This broadening of goods may have caused quality to suffer.

At a high level it makes sense for a company to diversify to grow, and maybe with their new approach they are growing amongst customers more quickly in other ways. For my part I’m just massively less interested. If they could offer newer types of items at the same rate as iterating on new handbags and maintaining the same quality, I might care - as it is I’m bored and unimpressed and I don’t. I suspect I’m not alone either, as the rate of new posts to this thread has declined significantly.

I don’t mean any of the above to detract from anyone who is still enjoying Polene’s goods. I have three bags from them that I still like and use. I’m just sharing what my opinion on the general trend is, given that I’ve continued to check in on this thread over the past few months.

I agree that it’s a bit boring that no new seasonal colors have come out, and the experience in store is offputting: waiting 60 Mins outside, no help inside, various lines to see bags, to pay, waiting again, no Polène bags in department stores, no second location in Europe, why? I also don’t like the new bag models.
However the new polaire Dix is gorgeous, I use my mini Neuf a lot, I like what I have, great quality.

Thank you for your detailed review and opinion. I really appreciate the information. I mostly have Ysl and LV and those bags are not without quality issues themselves, but they also retain their value. I know these are wildly different price points but at 500 I don’t want to just consider it a throw away bag either!

Is it safe to order from Paris rn? since there is bed bug outbreak in France?
Thinking of getting a bag or 2 when they have the free shipping promo ... But i'm worried of the bed bugs outbreak there
Should i be concerned?
Polene are shipping from Spain, not France.
And while there might be some bedbugs in Spain as well, I doubt that they will find their way into your little parcel. ;) I would not worry at all.

Public service announcement: for anyone who likes looking secondhand for bags, watch our for listings that describe grained leather as "lychee" leather. In Chinese, the name for that grained texture is lizi leather aka lychee leather. Im not saying its fake, but I have seen a lot of fake pokene bags.

Always ask for proof of authentication like receipts or order confirmations.
