Chanel! Celine can only be wore in single strap, but not long enough to be crossbody. Also like Chanel's hardware chain better, stands out more with the leather bag.

chanel if you want something that's timeless and classic
celine if you want something unique and understated. it's always good to purchase a classic Chanel first because you dont know if Celine will still be popular in future seasons.

I'm a Celine fan, but I vote for the Chanel flap (which I feel is more versatile). The Celine bag does not look as stunning with formal styles, and I feel that the Celine box bag may not be as stylish in a few years when small cross-body bags are not in style anymore.

Gr8 post OP. I had the same question. I was leaning towards a Celine..simple and understated elegance. However, I agree with averagejoe in that Chanel is more versatile. I like to wear my Chanel for special dinners and events. I would be limited with Celine xbody. If I had tons of extra cash..would add Celine box to my purse collection.

Well, the Chanel flap is a bag that has already proven to be a "classic" bag. The Celine could be, but you never know. I guess if you want a guaranteed classic, then go with the Chanel.
