I’m curious (and hesitant to join this confab of experts  ) - how likely is it that a particular bag could have been made using a color of resin different from what would be typical for the color of leather used? In this case there seems to be a possibility that chocolate Swift might have been made with brown rather than black resin?
It is uncommon, but not necessarily impossible. One example that comes to mind is the colour Poussière, which I believe I have seen with both black and brown resin in the same leather. Usually, however, resin disparities between the same colour are dependent upon the type of leather. For instance, sometimes exotic bags will have a different resin colour than the regular leather versions of the same colour.

Perhaps the most frequent example of resin differences between the same leather colour occurs when Hermès decides to completely change the resin for a colour that is being re-released/unrested. One recent example of this is the colour Celeste which used to have light brown resin back when it was released in 2011. For some reason, when Celeste was re-released around 2018, Hermès decided to switch the resin colour to black!

Apologies if this it too far OT, Mods. Feel free to delete or move as needed!

I think it's really helpful (and so interesting) but it would be good to post bout that in the little known facts too, Share interesting Hermès facts here! Maybe under Resin Anomalies or similar so it doesn't get lost on this fast moving thread

Has anyone heard of a Kelly 30? A seller is trying to tell me it’s rare and Collector Square has sold one before in suede. I’m confused because I can’t find any info on Kelly 30 online :hrmm:
I came across this example not too long ago:

Hermès has not made a Kelly 30, so the seller must be confused. It must be a Kelly 32– my guess is that the seller took the literal measurement of the bag and it came out to 30cm. The Monaco Kelly is also a 32. It is not uncommon for a bag to measure slightly smaller or larger than the standard sizing parameters. For Kelly, the sizes have always been 20 (mini), 25, 28, 32, 35, 40, and 50 (Voyage or Relax). And now there is also a Maxi Kelly. Hope this clears things up! ;)

Yes they told me it’s a Kelly 30 with it showing 30cm in measurement

Thank you for the picture! I think my guess was right— seems as if the seller is unaware of how Hermès Kelly sizing works. As an aside, usually I would caution to be wary of sellers who claim to be selling “rare” pieces, because often that translates to “greedily overpriced”. Anyway, this seems to be Veau Doblis, so it may indeed be rare! :flowers:

@LivinADreamInRSF Please post some pics of the beautiful so flash/éclat and un update. And thank you @QuelleFromage for the info, never seen one of those bags in person very intrigued now to find a vintage one.
On another note totally agree with @textilegirl about the current Hermes frenzy. I see Hermes as very ‘slow fashion’ nothing is dated because of the high quality.
Will do! She's due here Monday - but who's anxious?
