Plastic surgery 2023?

Rhinoplasty review - Cocoline in Korea

I got my rhinoplasty surgery March 2023 and am now 13 weeks post op. Main areas of concern were: wide button nose tip and big nostrils.

I came with 2x rounds of previous PDO nose thread and 2x rounds nose filler. The doctor decided during consultation it's best I do not use a silicone implant as he was already happy with my nose bridge height. The option was always there if I still wanted to go ahead with a silicone implant, however that'd mean recovery time would be alot longer and I would have to wait an additional 4-5 days as my nose filler would need to be dissolved first.

If no silicone implant, I don't have to worry about dissolving the filler left and threads could stay as is. By this time, it had already been 5 years since I last got nose filler so we were confident not alot was left. Biggest bonus was that I'd have no foreign object in my nose if I opted for no implant, which I settled for.

I chose cocoline for their natural before and after results. All my research into this forum and reading positive past comments and experiences helped me in deciding on this clinic too. What also took me by surprise was how reasonable my quoted and actual price was. It was much less than the bigger and highly commercialised clinics such as Banobagi, VIEW, JW etc.

Doctor performed alar reduction and tiplasty by using my septum cartilage to reshape my tip. No extra ear cartilage was required.

First month after taking off my cast was tough. You go through so many stages of seeing your nose in different shapes and sizes. I wasn't confident in the results in the first month. It looked as if my whole face got rounds of botox as my nose was super stiff like hard clay on my face and I wasn't able to make any facial expressions whatsoever. My nose felt super tight on my face and I'd have to hold my nose if I wanted to laugh to prevent pain from skin stretching.

Second month was much better and nose had settled in with much less swelling except the stretching of skin around my nose didn't seem to relax that much.. Still unable to smile completely. I was much more confident 2 months post op. I became used to my new nose on my face and to me it now looks natural, however when I see close friends I haven't seen in a while they think it is quite obvious, that I still look like myself but massively improved. Rhinoplasty can often changes the shape of your eyes, many friends thought I got my eyelids done too as it appears to look bigger to them.

Third month now and nose is continuing to settle. There is one thing I haven't seen anyone make warnings about but even after 13 weeks I still cannot fully smile completely without feeling a stretch and pull of the skin around my nostrils!!!! There are still certain lightings and angles I like and don't like my nose from. Sometimes I wonder if I would have gotten better results if I did go for a silicone implant instead as my natural nose bridge is still quite naturally wide and nose bridge definition line isn't emphasised as much as it would be if I got the implant. However, before my rhinoplasty I always said I'd prefer a more natural result which I feel the doctor lived up to. I definitely feel prettier getting dolled up and taking photos now than before.

As for the clinic and doctor and staff itself, they were all very professional. Clinic is kept in a clean and tidy condition. The clinic is very responsive over the app if you have any questions or concerns. My consultation with the doctor went for about an hour and the key is to come prepared. Document all your notes, photos and questions before you arrive.
I’m leaning towards Cocoline with similar concerns as yours so thank you for the review. How are you liking the results 6 months in? Do you know if this doctor is able to use cartilage as an alternative to silicone? Reading several reviews where he uses silicone or recommending silicone. That would probably be my only concern.

Hi guys I am from Melbourne, au and cannot speak Korean, i can only speak English+Chinese.
I decided to do Rhino, Double eyelid and facial contouring in Korea April 2024(Easter break)> Anyone would like to share the quote from those clinics. Or wanna share some information as well? I currently recieved a quote from Braun, i think it's overpriced
They quoted me a bit high i reckon. Rhino 6.9 million KRW, Doubl eeyelid 3.8 million, facial contouring whole 3 sets : 14.8 million
Hey, am going in late April 2024 too. Do you have kkt? My ID is minn2905

I went to Nana for rhinoplasty consultation but I felt like a factory clinic
A lot of big plastic surgeries seem to be factory like clinics but I strongly disagree with the case of Nana cause getting 4th Rhino there was the best thing I've done. Staffs were so much caring and the doctor was so professional. When I was there for check up, I was struggling with swelling to be honest but the doctor was so comforting by providing all the medical informations why my nose seem asymmetric at first.

Review of my experience since I found a lot of helpful info from this thread:

I went to Gangnam intending to do SMILE, DES, and rhinoplasty. I will only talk about DES and rhino here, but happy to share about my SMILE experience too.

I did online consultations with Banobagi, MIND, JK, JW, ME Clinic, Braun, HANABI, Girin, ILAC, Machimpyo, and Marble for rhino and DES. I also did The Plus and 1st button for rhino only, and Pop and Yellow for DES. Eventually I narrowed down to Yellow for in person consult for DES, and The Plus and ILAC for rhino. I found Kowon last minute, which was recommended more by locals, and I liked their BA photos because the doctor still has a relatively natural aesthetic which I wanted.
Please note that for clinics that cater more to locals you will need to bring your own translator. I brought Kayla from seoulmedibuddy, and she was a great help!

In person consultations:
Yellow: Director met with me and was very patient in showing me different eye folds that would suit me, and explained that certain folds would not look good or cause sausage eyes. They had a book of BA photos for me to look through and a Chinese translator in house but no English.

ILAC: They require a deposit typically but I think they forgot to ask for one from me because I am a foreigner and booked the consult so far in advance. I met with Dr. Ju and he was very detailed and thorough in answering my questions. The translator was sufficient but I could tell some things were lost in translation. Dr. Ju did insist on using a silicone implant to raise my bridge height, which wasn't something I had been concerned about before. He wanted to go with 3mm minimum, and helped me try on various heights so that I could pick one that I was most comfortable with. I also asked about using donor rib cartilage and he was pretty set on recommending a silicone implant, but I did not want any artificial materials to be implanted so I ended up not choosing ILAC because of this. He did spend a while drawing angles on my front and side profiles to show my current proportions and how they could be corrected, since I had a deviated septum and asymmetry. He also pointed out areas that caused functional issues for me that he would correct. Although I did not pick ILAC this was a very educational consult both for aesthetic and function.

The Plus: They also required a deposit and charged a consult fee. I was happy to pay the consult fee but negotiated out of the deposit. Dr. Jeong was also detailed in looking over my anatomy and pointed out new things I hadn't seen during the first consult in my CT. The vibe was just a bit off for me and I felt like my opinion wasn't as valued so did not go with The Plus.

Kowon:
This consult was scheduled last minute and there wasn't much of an online consult. The consultant was very professional and flexible working with me, which I appreciated a lot especially since I had to bring my own translator and things wouldn't go as smoothly. Once I met with Dr. Kim, I immediately knew I would select Kowon because of his attitude towards patients and I could tell he would listen to what I wanted with my nose. I asked for a recommendation between silicone vs donor vs my own cartilage, and he refused to provide one saying that it was entirely up to what I was comfortable with but answered my questions on the pros and cons of each, especially my concerns about warping and infection. He also pointed out that my nose widens alot when I smile, and that he would address that by cutting the muscles to reduce that. I also showed him an inspo pic of a nose that was extremely natural looking and talked about concerns on not making it too sharp, and keep nostrils looking soft. He said with my anatomy it was not possible to make it look sharp, so I don't have to be worried about that. Since my nose has a lot of asymmetry, the work done on either side would be different and so it would have uneven swelling during recovery. Both Dr. Kim and the consultant reiterated that to make sure I understood.

Disclaimer: All the rhino consults offered discounts for reviews during price negotiation, but they are pretty small. I did receive a discount for writing this review, but all opinions are my own. ve

Pricing: ILAC < Kowon < The Plus
I did see others were able to get much cheaper pricing and am not sure if it's because I received foreigner pricing, but I did need to have a lot more done to my nose because of functional issues and asymmetry. I used donor rib cartilage and got bulbous tip correction and alar reduction as well.

Post-op:
Kowon had a follow up 1 day after, then 3 days after to do de-swelling treatments. I had my cast removed a week after and am still experiencing the uneven swelling they mentioned, so I am trying to hold back on making any judgement on the outcome. Good thing they warned me haha but it is still mentally tough especially after just going through all of that. Will follow up after 3 weeks when swelling should go down much more!
Thanks for your review. May I ask you a few questions about your healing and results? I will need to have the same rhino procedures as your and would really appreciate any information you can provide. Kkt: TrueNorth
Thank you 🙏
