On the rouge H theme, I didn’t share here this find from end last year. It is a Box Faco clutch from 1983. I got it for an amazing price an the nice thing is that it arrived on Christmas Eve, including a matching Zoulou coin purse as a gift and a note from the seller telling me that the purse had belong to her mother in law who was “a lover of beautiful things” and that she hope I would be too and enjoy carrying it. So lovely. It is in wonderful condition.

Totally cool, and I can see it working with your inimitable style perfectly

Unfortunately her biggest issue actually is the weak handle...but I will get it fixed !!
Thank you for your encouraging statement. She really deserves another chance!View attachment 5109195

Goodness, looks like someone tried to drown it and then chained it up in a basement for 30 years ;)

Totally worth saving for some light duties though, poor baby. You can do it!

So beautiful! and the gift of the Zoulou purse (one of my favourite Hermes SLG designs) in such a fabulous colour way with the note and history behind it melts my heart.

I have a 1974 in gold with almost the same issue with the handle. I just sent her off to the spa 2 weeks ago - given her age she's going to have to go to Paris so they estimated 10 weeks for the quote for work to be done and 6 months before I get her back but I couldn't stand the idea of not being able to carry her with confidence that the leather wouldn't rip so I'm hopeful they'll be able to give her a whole new lease on life :-)

when i wear it crossbody it right up near my bust which is too high for me, so the 15cm strap extender worked a treat to bring the bag down to wear it like it to sit =)

Did you mean 28cm long? I just measured the bag, came up as 24cm long

I thought so, it was too short for me too.

You're correct, I meant 24cm (don't know why I wrote 28 LOL)

Update on the repairs on my 1956 Rouge H Kelly 35….
If you remember, Hermès told me on May 19 that I should receive a quote in 2 weeks. I waited a full week after that, making sure to check my junk folder along with my email inbox, and…nothing.
Well, after having to drove 40 minutes each way and physically go to the store because they did not respond to two phone calls/messages I left 3 days apart or an email I sent last Saturday to the SA I have been working with (can’t honestly call him my SA now since he couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge my email or respond), I was told they would not work on my Kelly. It was “damaged beyond repair”. The SA helping me said a manager claimed to email
me about it, but I verified my email address and have been checking my multiple times a day for two weeks just to be sure I did not miss it. Nobody from Hermès sent me an email. The SA went to the back and brought me my bag and said he didn’t understand why they said it was damaged beyond repair. To be honest, I don’t think it ever left the store. I realize I am not a high dollar customer, but I did want to purchase there regularly. Now I am left with a very bad taste after this transaction and feel pushed aside/unwelcome. I took it to a local well reviewed leather shop, who took it in and said it was not that bad, that they have seen (and repaired) far worse. I will let you know how it turns out. Their estimate was less than I expected and included work on the inside pockets that Hermès would not do.

I would contact the store director as it’s not up to any SA to determine who’s bags are worked on.
At this point, the bag is at the other shop. H had their chance and they punted. I just want my bag repaired, not to argue about it. They obviously do not want the responsibility to the point of not following through with their famous commitment to repairing their bags and standing by their workmanship. Besides, the SA seemed surprised about the “damaged beyond repair” note, so I don’t think it was an SA call. But I don’t think a craftsman made the call and Paris certainly didn’t.

But all that is beside the point. It was HOW it was handled….or NOT handled that has me the most unhappy. I should not have been blown off and forced to chase down my own bag.
