I tested Vilhelm's Room Service today. It was one of the oddest experiences of my life. It reminded me of being in a funeral home!
Whether this is my nose being weird post-covid or some olfactory memory from a long time ago, I can't be sure. I can say that I have never before had a scent make me instantly depressed. :hrmm:

At any rate, I see there's a lot of talk about Vilhelm (at least it is hyped in the shops around me) and I don't think they're anything special, for the most part. Mango skin is the only one that seems wearable to me, but even that is only for those that love sweet fragrances.

(edit: my opinion is to be taken with a large grain of salt because I'm so new to all of this). :)

I really want to test out some Dior fragrances soon. I find their SAs quite snooty so haven't dared approach that counter yet.
Happy to take any recommendations if any of you are familiar with their offerings.

Since I recently tried again Byredo's La Tulipe, I'm lusting for something tulip...but more delicate and not so in-your-face like the Byredo...more like Rituals' Amsterdam Collection, or like when you walk into a flower shop in spring....

Does anyone have suggestions?

Perfumer’s description of my custom scent. I wasn’t sure what nutty scent to use, if any. He picked pistachio. Otherwise it’s notes I chose. He’s mailing it tomorrow.

So excited to try it!

Weekend Breakfast: Blueberry pancakes, maple syrup, pistachio, rum, and vanilla.

The tart berry and booze notes lasted throughout my wear time, worth noting as they have a tendency to fade quickly. It's warm and stout on application then gradually mellows into a cozy, toasty gourmand. Really nice given the cold weather.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Are you interested in their regular/mainstream line or the exclusives? I am probably more of a Chanel/Guerlain girl, but there are some Dior fragrances that I greatly enjoy, and some of their vintage scents are fantastic. From their mainstream line, I have a few of theirs from the J'Adore line (J'Adore L'Or) and Absolu; Hypnotic Poison (I like this one but for some reason I never wear it), Dior Addict, Dune (love, especially the older versions), and probably a few other discontinued ones I can't recall at the moment. Also own vintage versions of Miss Dior (very different from the current Miss Dior), Diorella, and also Miss Dior Originale EDT. I think I might be forgetting some, not sure, but will update as I remember. I haven't sampled their exclusives line extensively, but own and enjoy a few of those fragrances too like New Look 1947, Gris Dior, Bois d'Argent and Feve Delicieuse.

Also adding that Diorissimo original version is one of the best (if not the best) lily of the valley fragrances I have ever tried. I don't know how the current version smells, but if you like florals, you should give it a try. If I recall correctly, there have been restrictions on lily of the valley (muguet), so sadly, my guess is it may not smell quite as stunning as the older versions.

@Sferics, sorry I don't have any tulip fragrance suggestions for you. I am realizing that as much as I love florals, I haven't really explored tulip-centric perfumes. Keep us posted if you find something you like.

This sounds really interesting. I'm not sure what blueberry smells like- my mind just thinks of muffins, lol. Please let us know how you like it when it comes! :)

Several of the Hermes fragrances smell like walking into a flower shop to me. I cannot for the life of me remember the names of them, though! I'll update if I can recall. Sorry I'm not of much help.

Oh sorry, the exclusives. They're at Bloomies on a special counter with really snooty SAs, so I'm intrigued!
The regular ones are everywhere, so I'll be sampling some of those along the way as well, but my first aim is to get past the gatekeeping around the Exclusives. :graucho:
Thanks for all the recommendations! I'll get right onto sniffing. :)

And thank you all for the Dior suggestions! :)

I'm really only familiar with the men's line and the exclusives. Of the men's line, the only ones I like that are available in the States are Fahrenheit and Sauvage Elixir. Of the exclusives, there are lots that are good: Ambre Nuit, Feve Delicieuse, Bois d'Argent, Oud Ispahan, Eden-Roc, Balade Sauvage. And I don't know where you are, but if you're anywhere near Paris, then the Parisian exclusives are probably the best the line has to offer. Mitzah, Leather Oud, Cuir Cannage, and Vetiver are the ones I love exclusive to Paris.

I’m about to order samples from Memo Paris. Any recommendations about which to sample? Thanks!
Not sure if this will be helpful but, I'll try. :)
I've sampled Sintra (heavy, sweet, dense), Marfa (tuberose but airy, not too sweet, and with some green to it), and Flam (I remember this as "pretty floral" upon spraying but it gave me an allergic reaction so I didn't get to smell it properly).
Marfa is the most unisex out of those 3, the other two are certainly traditionally feminine.
They have a range of leather fragrances but one of those gave me an allergic reaction too so I stopped exploring Memo offerings at that point (this is not to do with Memo- I have lots of allergies in general).

I'm really only familiar with the men's line and the exclusives.
Thanks for the input. I'll have to see what's available out of those when I next go but, it sounds like there's bound to be something I'll enjoy from the line up.

Oh my stars! This sounds heavenly.
I have always wanted to do that, have a custom scent made.
Would you mind sharing the perfumer? Please.. I love my gourmand vanilles/vanillas & I always have a bottle of Shalimar on my dressing table but this sounds fun.
And please update when you've had a chance to try it. I'm excited for you, I hope you LOVE it.
