Payment question for those who purhcased birkins from H directly...

That's how I do it too .
And I agree, I pay with my CC first because of the purchase protection and because of their point saving program. I mean, how great is it to get a reward for shopping ?

Exactly! I love AMEX...best buyer protection ever, IMO. Plus, like LG and **Chanel** said, you can't beat getting points/rewards for shopping!! For me, my bank charges me for a wire every time, which annoys me. (Hey, those wire fees add up if you do a lot of wiring! Less wire fees = more orange goodies! :p) This only makes sense if you pay off your CC every month though.

Haha, I love the way you think :p. Luckily, we don't have to pay here for wire transfers (yet).
ITA with you about paying off your CC every month, that's always what I do because I am not interested in going into debt or/and pay a lot of interest :sweatdrop:.

Sorry if this is a redundant question but I couldn't seem to find a thread about this. I'm still new to hermes and would like to ask the more experienced shoppers regarding payment at the boutique?
1. Generally for leather goods/bags, do you pay in cash or card? Or, how do you normally make payment at the boutique?
2. Do you receive better service if you pay in cash?

Thank you :)

1 card
Think seldom shopper will carry x amount cash and walk around shopping safety reasons
2 cash or card still same treatment
It's the amount spent at the end of the day they more interested

Every cash register area that i have seen has a cash counting machine, so there must be enough people paying in cash to require it. That said, I always use a cc. And no one knows in what form your payment will be until you have been served, so it would make no difference.

AMEX for everything, all the time. As lulilu wrote above, SA's do not know how you intend to pay for your goods so the level of service you receive prior to purchase remains unchanged. Funnily enough, just last month I saw a man in an H Boutique making a multi-thousand dollar purchase using cash. SA's kept poker faces but it caused quite a delay as each bill was checked to ensure it was not counterfeit. Moral of story: Cash always works, but why do it when CC's are faster, safer and POINTS, baby, POINTS!

Lol  one of my SA (non H) actually told me they do not prefer large sums of cash payment as take up too much of their time to count the cash and some needs store manager on the side and plus they need to take the extra cash (if it's more than X$) to the customer service for deposit...another cash counting and verifying :whut:.

IMO paying credit card is safe and easy for both parties, plus there is "almost" no cap of spending by using credit card(s) in case there is an unexpected big purchase .

Usually CC or combination. Every H I've been in has a cash counting machine, I really don't think it matters to them, it takes maybe an extra minute? However, one of the 'horror' stories an SA told me was the guy who bought a Birkin with CHANGE. That's right, coins!!! Of course they sold him the bag, but I'm pretty sure they don't appreciate that!

However, since they told me that story many years ago, I do occasionally 'clean out' DHs car....you never know, it all does add up..... [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

You can pay any way you want including by wire, but I recommend:
CC with purchase protection/no foreign transaction fee if you're overseas - usually this gives you 90 days of protection against theft/damage etc., although there is sometimes a 10K/item limit.
Cash if you are seeking to launder money ;)
love all your truthful responses :p

RIDICULOUS. Could've gone to the bank to get it changed to notes. How inconsiderate.
