Thank you!!!! I wonder if a taxi driver will understand if I say something about a Hermes sale haha

I cannot really tell if this is a serious query or not. Perhaps you need lessons in how to survive in foreign cities if you do not know how to speak the language perfectly?

You will be in France, we speak French as it is our national language and it is the language that taxi drivers and bus drivers must pass their tests in! Anyone who has ever been to France would tell you we very proud of our language and prefer speaking it. Why take a chance on offending anyone or getting taken to any of the Hermes boutiques instead of Port Maillot?

So may I suggest simply ask your hotel to write down the address on the back of your hotel business card (this way you will be able also to return to your correct hotel) or copy down address from this forum or ask Mon Google to check address and print out a map!

this is always safe and works.

They replenish the scarves and some other items, but not the jewellery or SLGs, so far as I remember. I don't think there's too much difference in what you'll find on the evening of the 23rd versus what you'll find on the 24th.

Actually, when I was there last summer, I couldn't make it untill I think it was the saturday and there was almost only RTW left and some shoes. =/ After that experience, I don't think I'll be going unless I can get there on the first day. I'm not sure if I can make it this year though, sadly. But can't wait to see what everyone'll be getting and to hear all the crazy stories!

But you can always make it to the afternoon tea, non..?

I'd love to and there's one store I really want to get a couple of things from in only Paris. And it's stuff I'd have to try on from this season. But I have to be on the other side of the continent only a few days later, so it'd probably be a big detour. We'll see though. =)

Hi ladies,

I'm new to Hermes on TPF. By chance I will be in Paris at the time of the sale. May I ask what will be on sale and how much will be the reduction on items?

Welcome to the Forum! There seems to be some disagreement as to if stock is going to be replenished daily this year so I do not want to make a statement and then be blamed for mis-information. Usually there are scarves, shawls, gloves, hats, belts, shoes, small leather goods, enamel jewelry, ready-to-wear. Personally, I have never seen a Birkin or a Kelly on sale but that may just be a factor of not being press or too far behind in line. As for discount, it seems to depend on the type of item but it is sufficient to get me out of bed at an ungodly hour! Good luck!

I am new to tpf too. OK, i lurk a lot.

I will be in paris that week for business and would love to get to the sale.

I know how to get to porte maillot, but is there more of an address or directions? Also, any idea of the hours?

Thanks in advance

My suggestion is to have your hotel desk write down this address for a taxi driver: Porte Maillot is what you would ask for first and then you should say or the hotel should write for you "the Palais des Congres".

It is basically on the borderline between the Paris suburb of Neuilly and Paris.

There is always a long long line so pretty hard to miss once you are there.
As for exact hours, I honestly don't know---I just get up as early as my old bones allow and get over there and stand in line with my coffee and croissant. But at least at this time of year there should be no snow!

Enjoy!

Hi Expertess,

Wow! sounds like the sale is going to be very attractive!
Care to share what are the typical discounts in % if buying during the sale?
Will Kelly/Birkin bag go on sale ?
TIA

What time should one arrive in the morning? If I cannot get there until the 3rd day, should I skip it? I would not buy RTW or shoes. It is pure serendipity that I will be there during the Summer Sale.

At this stag of my life 'sale' is my favorite word! Please do not be offended by me, but there are 4 pages on this thread and so there are many more comments in addition to mine.

With that caveat in mind, I have been to London, Paris, New York sales and I have NEVER NEVER seen a Kelly or a Birkin on sale. With waiting lists so long and special orders so backed up there really is no reason for Hermes to ever put these models on sale. So if that is all you want, I would not get up early and stand in line.

Discounts depend on item type but average between 40-60%. There are shoes and RTW, jewellry and scarves. Sometimes those big beach towels too. Again, this is a sale so not all colors nor all sizes.

And this is Paris and for the 'soldes' there is always a long long line!

I am French and I would not miss an Hermes sale even if there was only one pochette left that I might like. Saying that my best friend and I are planning on going very very early the first morning--hope one of us to be in line by 7AM!

And fansynancy---arrive as early as possible. I have no idea what is left by third day or if this year they replenish stocks every day, sorry. And now for an insight into French women----during the soldes (sales), we tend to shop handbags first and shoes, second. So because of my culture/background/nationality/way my mother taught me how to shop, I am maybe not the right person to ask. But given choice between Eiffel Tower line and Hermes line, I would stand in Hermes.:D

RTW means "ready-to-wear" apparel as opposed to coutoure.
Enjoy

And does anyone know what the dates are for LONDON Hermes sale this spring 2011? Merci beaucoup.

Thank you so much, everyone, for the great information. I remember reading elsewhere that one should wear no H to the sales. Does this mean I cannot even have SLG's (small leather goods) in my (non-H for the day) purse? Thank goodness my Goyard St. Louis folds up!
