Hello Specialistparis, sorry for the confusion, but you state a birkin shoulder ie. JPG togo or clemence (aka taurillon) : 5,300 Euros .... to the best of my knowledge, Shoulder B only comes in the taurillon as a regular leather and not in togo ... I know they have croc and barenia/toile, but togo???

I don't post here really. But, as an American living overseas I am constantly pricing out bags all over Europe, but the only ones I remember all of the details of are the ones I've actually bought, obviously. . . .:yahoo:

I bought a 35 cm black box calf Kelly for 4000 Euro (including VAT) in Paris this past March. I think I got a VAT refund of about 450 Euro ($570).

And, although it isn't Paris, just last week I bought a 35 cm Clemence Rouge Birkin in Hannover for 5100 Euro ($6540, also included VAT), and I am set to get a 650 Euro ($825) refund.

I also looked very closely at and almost bought a JPG Rouge 40 cm Birkin (don't know the type of leather, but it looked like Clemence) in Brussels about two months ago. I believe the price was 5800 Euro.

Even with the weak dollar, it still sounds a lot cheaper. I'm starting to like living overseas!

brimarie, if you're living overseas AND getting paid in the local currency, too, that's the life of Riley you've got there!! Lucky girl! And those are terrific purchases you've made, too. *sigh* I do miss living overseas!

Unfortunately getting paid in USD, but I guess I can't have it all! ;)

Anything Hermes has to be cheaper in France because that's where it's made. It costs alot of money to have merchandise transfered to the states. It's like your paying for all the import fee's and all other fee's they inquire when they send merchandise to the states to be sold. You know how our goverment is!! They want a piece of everyones pie!!!

Now if you really think about it when you fly out of the country your still not saving any money, you have airfare, hotel fee's, cabs, food, and all those extra little "expenses" So are you really saving money?

Maybe not. But if you're in Paris, chances are you're also having a LOT more fun than if you'd stayed put. :graucho:

WOW..ladies. These BIrkin prices makes me WANT to go to PARIS for a couple of days and actually purchase my Graphite 36cm HAC Ruth HW or Potiron HAC 36cm Gold Pal. in either Togo/Clemence.

After all, I worked for the Airlines (Flight Attendant) and might "NEED" to venture and take advantage of my benefits.

If it will save me $$$ it would be great. I need to research before I go, to where(Best Mothership to go), what days to go and place to stay.etc.

I havent been to Paris or Europe in a LOOONG time. With the weakening of Dollars and increase of Euros..I try to go to Asia mostly for R&R.

I guess, I need to check out getting some passes soon!!!

Im starting to get "Antsy" about the wait for my Birkin HAC..but going to Paris is my last resort..then I might start an adventure there!!!

Luvurbag, the whole point about being a flight attendant is to make use of those great job perks......

You would just go berserk in the Mothership.

Maybe it's time for you to consider flying for United instead, since they do the Paris runs out of Dulles!!! Or if not them, another airline that does international....
