Welcome to the tpf Meg and welcome to the addiction! You can finds lots of info here and we are more than happy to enable you. Safety chains-people either like them or hate them. Over time opening and closing of the clasp may cause it to "loosen" or weaken which is one reason someone may use a safety chain. They are kind of a pain with twisting etc. If you chose not to have one, you can do as you say and get clips for the ends to prevent beads screwing on/off. I had one SA tell me she used a spacer but I probably wouldn't as they can easily fall off when putting on/off your bracelet. As for sizing, it sounds like yours may be a size too big. I think the judgement is to have 2 fingers not 3. If you add muranos they will take up more room and also I have read where over time the bracelet may stretch a bit from the weight of the beads. It sounds like you may indeed need to swap. I was talked into a 7.9 for my first bracelet and although I still can wear it, I MUCH prefer my other 2 which are 7.5. Get what you feel comfy with.

FYI LADIES.....

I was emailed by my local jewler here in Toronto saying that he is having the free bracelet even in June, 17, 18 and 19th.., and some time in September. They are changing it though. Now you have to spend $150.00 in Pandora beads and you get the barrel bracelet for free. Before it was the lobster clasp bracelet, and you needed to pay extra to upgrade to the barrel bracelet...

I think I will be starting one...gift from my momma.... belated birthday gift.....

The promo for June is a free wine kit with a $100.00 bead purchase. Its not all stores. Only if you want to participate. The one in September is spend $150.00 in beads and get the barrel bracelet for free. each store chooses when in Sept. they are having their promo. That way, if you have more than one Pandora shop in your area, each store gets a chance to have their time.

My store emailed this out:

"Hi everyone,

Great news. Pandora has decided to add a second bracelet event this year and it will take place on JUNE 17, 18 & 19th.

The promotion works as follows, buy any Pandora product up to $150 ( before tax ) and receive a free barrel-clasp bracelet ( a $65 value ) for free.

Please feel free to pass on the great news.

P.S. The next event will be some time in September, we'll let you know the exact dates when they are confirmed.

Maybe for Canada we are having the bracelet event in both June and September? That's what it sounds like in the email I got....

Hi all from a new Pandora addict.:smile1: I have a couple of questions. I noticed that many of you have safety chains on your bracelets. I wondered why since the closure seems so darn secure. After wearing my bracelet I think I know one reason why - the last beads on either side of the closure on mine get stuck on the grooves where the beads get screwed on. Annoying. I think that the only remedy for that is to buy two more clip on spacers for either side of the closure or a safety chain?

Also, about bracelet sizing. I have really thin wrists. I wanted to buy the 7.1 silver bracelet and was talked into the 7.5. Even more than half way filled, with 11 beads and two clip on spacers, this bracelet is HUGE on me. I can fit three fingers between it and my wrist. That's not right, is it?

I am thinking about exchanging it for the 7.1. Thanks for your help.

Welcome Meg! I too have small wrists and the 7.1 is perfect. Three fingers is too much space and even when you have filled the bracelet, there is a chance of stretching so I would exchange it.

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies! I decided for sure to exchange my 7.5 for a 7.1. I'll think about a safety chain later. Thank you for all of the advice here.:smile1:

I just love Pandora bracelets. So many choices and good, solid jewelry that will last a lifetime. I am actually running out of space (I probably have room for another 5 or so beads (this is without muranos so far). I will probably end up starting another bracelet this year! I'd better join some local jeweler email lists for bracelet promos by the sound of things.

On my wish list - all things autumn and Christmas (snowman, Christmas tree, acorn....am I missing any? There might be a leaves one, I think) and the adorable kangaroo with a joey in her pouch. I alos have a great silver bead with gold Xs on it and might get another if I can find it. Love the silver beads with gold initials on them and the birthstone beads and the enamel flower beads, too! Yikes!

I love ebay too! I know my charms, and I have gotten some great deals! I always look at feedback, the reason the seller is selling, and what else they are selling.

Right now I am struggling, because there is a special gold charm I REALLY want for my birthday (which is a BIG one, very deserving of a gold charm I might add). I see it on ebay, from a trusted seller for considerably less ($75 off full retail?) but the point is I want DH to buy it for me. He doesn't ebay, he's struggling just to figure out how to go into a regular store and get what I want! but ohhh, I could save him enough to buy a cabochon to go with it!

I say save the money.....sit with your hubby online and click Buy It together and then you have that much more $$ toward that pretty onyx bead I just fell in love with on BarbPixie's leather bracelet. ;)

Really beautiful creation BarbPixie!

I think you will be happy you decided to exchange it. I have very thin wrists too, and I have two of the size 7.1 bracelets. Even with Muranos, they are comfortable with a little extra room when full. I tried on my mom's full 7.5 bracelet and it was definitely too big for me. Also my bracelet with Muranos did stretch a bit. At first I didn't think it would stretch but after about a year I noticed it was a little bigger. As for the safety chains, I know a lot of people swear by them, but I tried one and couldn't stand it. It kept twisting around and I figured it would prevent me from enjoying my bracelet so I took it back. I use 2 extra clips, one on each end, to prevent beads from sliding off the open end and also to keep the beads from getting caught on the threads, which drives me nuts! Not saying my way is the right way but that's what i do!

Well guess what? Your way is my way.:smile1: I exchanged for a 7.1 and feel much better. 7.5 was just too big. I also think I will stay away from the safety chains and I also purchased two extra clips to keep the last beads from getting stuck on the threads. That was driving me nuts, too!;)

I am another person who can't really stand the safety chain. I have always put a clip at the end of my bracelet, so I am not afraid of losing beads when I take my bracelets off. I thought that I would try a safety chain on my two-tone bracelet because it would be really devastating to have to replace if I should lose it. I tried for months, but in the end, it just twisted so much that there were nights that I couldn't get it off without help. For me, the inconvenience out-weighted the benefits.
