Hi,

Do y'all find that you have to see a glass bead in person before you can decide if it fits on your bracelet or not. I like to look at photos of beads online and in catalogues, but I find that they often look very different in person. I get it though as I have trouble getting a good shot of my bracelet to share here. Do you all do the same and have to see a glass bead in person before you decide to purchase it?
I like to see the glass beads in person. And then try to buy online where I can find a deal or at least no tax/free shipping.

I see KendallDew sold completed bracelets... is it just me or do completed bracelets seem not as exciting to buy? I think 90% of the fun in owning Pandora is buying the beads individually and making the bracelet yourself... I just never understood the reasoning behind purchasing completed bracelets... but maybe that's just me?

I think the fun in it is choosing your own beads and making it your own individual creation.

Here's a thought...do you think since kendalldew sells the completed bracelets for 1/2 the retail price that people buy them and then re-sell the beads and bracelet for more money?:thinkin:

I was just using a jewelers cloth to wipe my down. Never really cleaned them any other way. But, I did clean mine for the first time the other day with dishwashing liquid, warm water and a tooth brush. Not only were mine all sparkling and new but the water was FILTHY. That was an eye opening experience. I guess I never realized how dirty they were actually getting.

After this I think I'll be cleaning the ones I wear the most every week or so, and all of them every other month or so. It's amazing how wonderful they look after they get cleaned like that. Made me fall in love all over again!

It's GREAT cleaning them that way- I've always done it but got slack for a few weeks- boy it makes a huge difference and they sparkle like new again. I'd just been using the cloth alone recently, but it's not enough.

Miss Kris are you loving Hawaii?!!:beach::sunshine:

I do think people may buy them and sell them.. or they buy the completed bracelet for the theme/look rather than for meaning.. but even for themed bracelets, I'd rather buy each bead myself and design the bracelet in my own way. Maybe for people who don't play with their beads so much wouldn't mind though! :p

I loveee Hawaii! At first I honestly didn't like it.. I was staying at the resort part of Waikiki and it was WAY too crowded and the beach was wayyy too small for the crowds of people.. I couldn't stand how I literally had to squeeze into a spot on the beach next to people I didn't know! I also didn't like how I would walk out of the ocean and be looking at what looked like the NYC skyline... not very tropical feeling. Yesterday I went to Lanikai on the east side of the island and it was SOOO much nicer! Definitely had an island feel! I switched from my hotel to a condo by the Army Museum on Waikiki and it's much more quiet down here and actually has palm trees unlike the resort area! The beach is sort of rocky here but I'd rather that than sitting on top of everyone! Tomorrow I'm going to Pearl Harbor so that should be nice especially since my boyfriend is in the Navy (he flew out here today). The next day I am renting a car and going surfing and snorkeling on the east shore and north shore. I'll keep you all updated though! Thanks for asking! ;)

I agree! The dish soap makes them look even better than brand new!! The cleaning cloth gets annoying after awhile.. hurts my fingers!!

Aww, well I'm glad you're having a better time now. Yes, I remember Waikiki being very "citylike" even when I went 25 years ago. But we also stayed on 3 of the other islands while we were there (Maui, Kaui and the "big island" of Hawaii) and Waikiki was our last stop, so at that point we were okay with it. Those islands were much quieter -- no high rises (back then, not sure about now), very lush and tropical, and each island was beautiful in it's own unique way.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!:D

Ive Just heard whilst talking to pandora rep, That different beads are made in a certain number of batches i forget how many. And then they dont repeat them for 6 months which is why people cant get hold of certain ones for ages. Time to employ more staff me thinks.

What i have found is there can be a distinct difference in size, I normally buy mine from pandora .but i bid on one from ebay and it is so small i cant wear it.It looks daft against my other muranos It was a total waste of money

All weekend I've been playing around with my Pandora trying to work out what my next purchases might be. But does anyone else get as frustrated as me when you keep re-arranging the beads but then decide that one needs to move two spaces to the left or right and you then have to take all the beads off again to make the switch (and then decide that you preferred it as it was after all!)?

Well, I've found a really great system that works for me. I came across a pack of old pipe cleaners that are soft enough not to damage the beads but strong enough to hold them and you can bend the cleaner into the shape of your bracelet. The beads just slide on and off effortlessly and you can make endless combinations without all the frustrations.

The other benefit is that it cleans the inside of the beads - I think I'll use these after I next clean my bracelet in soapy water. That way I'll make sure that the beads are as clean inside as out.

SallyT, I do the same thing!! Someone here once suggested a knitting needle, so I went searching though our old craft supplies for one and found a package of pipe cleaners instead and I've been using one ever since. It's great! But I never thought about cleaning the inside of the beads with it -- I'll have to try that, thanks!

about the pipe cleaners: In the new Pandora retail store in KOP, that's exactly what they use to help you design your creations.
