I searched and didn't see a thread talking about great topical products for the over 40 contingent!

I feel like I've tried everything but I am currently happy with Barbara Sturm, MBR, and Biologique Recherche.

My true Holy Grail product: Biologique Rechereche Lotion P50 1970....literally everyone should use this, I haven't had a breakout pimple since I started using the P50 1970. google it for yourself, the cult following to this stuff is real!View attachment 5766276

what's your HG?

I have been into skincare since I was 12 (if I were 12 again, I'd be one of those tweens at Sephora buying everything haha!). I rotate and try a lot of things, but my favorites that I always rotate back to after trying others, no particular order:

Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, La Mer eye cream, La Mer The Concentrate serum, Augustinus Bader Rich Cream, Natura Bisse Diamond Lift peeling mask, SKII brightening masks (I do 2x a week), Mizon exfoliator, SKII treatment essence, Chantecaille bio-lift overnight mask (best smell), and shiseido sunscreen.

I do multiple steps in morning and night. I am trying niacinamide, hyaluronic acids, tretinoin, etc. I also do facials regularly (no extractions-- too harsh).

What does everyone recommend for mature skin and those those deep creases that go from the side of your nose to the corners of your mouth if anything works to plump/fill up without injectables. Thanks.

A lady after my own heart! 🩷

It would be helpful to place in everyone’s posts one’s skin type and major concerns (fine lines, melasma, sunspots, pores, etc).

I’m in my late 30s, but as I have eczema and dry skin, I’ve been using skincare recommended for the 40s set since I turned 30 as it tends to be focused on hydration and moisture.

-Have a small bottle of BR P50 1970 but due to recent stressors haven’t used it yet. People whose skin I lust after irl swear by it and Masque Vivant tho. Be sure to watch the video on how to press it on.
-Sunday Riley Good Genes is a rare skincare product that lives up to the hype. Lactic acid—less harsh than other AHAs— yet provides noticeable results. I read a blog post where the author algorithmically compared all the Good Genes dupes (ie lactic acid serums, tho this has the consistency of a thin lotion) and found that nothing compared.
-TNS Advanced serum
-Still searching for my Vitamin C perfect fit. Skinceuticals CE Ferulic oxidizes dead fast, & yes, I refrigerated it and dispensed portions into a dark-colored bottle away from light. Timeless CE Ferulic seems to give an allergic reaction but I know it works excellently for some.
-Augustinus Bader Rich Cream! That or good old Cetaphil to use as a makeup base (Armani LSF girl here). I actually prefer the glowyness of Sturm’s Rich cream since there’s no such thing as too much glow on my dry parchment, but the ingredient list is lacking & I’m a sucker for the Bader patented magical mystery hype.
-IMPORTANT: Rx tretinoin. I preferred Refissa 0,5 percent before (marketed as moisturizing and to target lines and texture vs acne), but as it’s hard to find, I’ve switched to Altreno which has a similar marketing strategy for anti-aging vs acne potion, with HA and collagen. For tips on how to apply OTC retinol or Rx tret, I highly rec Dr Idriss (YouTube, insta)‘s advice on the subject. I want that immaculate glass skin shining like a boom light, damn it!
For OtC, my mom’s a 15 year ROC user (the gold tube range) and her skin is. Flawless. She had an accident, was admitted to hospital, & the nurse began freaking out that she had the wrong armband—this lady couldn’t possibly be 70+ she is definitely 20 years younger. Mom can I have yr phenotype pls.
-Cleanser: still searching for a nonfragranced, without essential oils first cleanse balm (…eczema). I like the pink Kose oil tho, & Lancôme Bifacil is a must in my kit for waterproof mascara tho it stings. Tip: Vaseline can be used to remove wp mascara whilst conditioning yr lashes!
They dc’d my fave micellar cleanser, so I’m on the prowl.
My second cleanse (once all makeup as been removed) is usually a cream as I’m dry skinned, like good old Cetaphil. I enjoy the OG Fresh cleanser for the experience, you know the one.
-underarms: the ordinary glycolic acid that comes in the siracha-shaped bottle. Place on cotton 5-ply pad (no need to get the Shiseido; these are a dime a dozen from Asian brands & you can find heaps on Amazon). This really works. Not a TikTok gimmick.
-Sunscreen: whichever Skin Aqua (Japanese) release that year is formulated without alcohol (drying), as I vibe with Mexoryl & Tinosorb (I also stock up on Vichy, LRP etc in eu). Anxiously awaiting their newest drop. Meanwhile, I’m using the Korean Purito PA++++ spf 50.
-masks: I’ve not found my dream mask yet except the SKII ones which I used to use on flights, but due to updated regulations that often isn’t possible. Am always tempted by the infamous Natura Bisse sleeping mask but then I think ‘hm, could use that on microcurrent instead’.
-haven’t found my HG eye cream yet. I used to alternate Refissa over a thick eye cream which is rec’d by many derms to avoid irritation, & have tentatively started doing so with Altreno. Unfortunately, this doesn’t do much for the muscle movement line under my left eye, so it may finally be time for jelly roll Botox….
-misc: Inkey list peptide collagen serum for temp plumping / juicy skin. I’ve seen unsponsored photos of ppl putting it on their lips and…I believe it.
-lip balm: aquaphor, in the tub (not the version sold as lip balm—diff ingredients) at night. Daytime, I welcome suggestions for something compact in tube format, pref with a subtly nice scent!
-peels: I tend to go to professionals for this after a long-ago diy disaster with a cult peel (thankfully it healed but that was not the new fun vortex for a week). I have samples of the Dennis Gross peel pads in Mild (blue), Regular (orange), Extra Strength (red) (I’m not present in the room where they are lol so I hope you can puzzle out what I am attempting to convey). Tips ‘n’ tricks? I bought the Natura Bisse stabilizing masque (white tube that Nam Vo raves about) but have yet to use it.

Dry & dehydrated skin.
Now using True Botanicals serum & vitamin C with pleasant results.
Also a fan of Sunday Riley Good Genes
Have been using Retrouve Cleansing Oil (for cleansing) De Mamiel, Sisley Lysait
not a fan of many drugstore brands, Augustinus Bader, or Dr. Barbara Sturm
Calceim Professional for extra hydration
Just tried Rhode Glazing milk which I like also use Shiseido Eudermine for many years
Allies of SKin Peptide Cream & Omega Eye cream
Skin Design London mask
111 skin Bio cellulose facial mask ( must have IMO)
MAKE lip balm, Hermes lip oil, By Terry, Lisa Eldridge, Westman Atelier, Sisley, Tom Ford, Serge Lutens lippies
Sunscreen La Roche Posay, Joseon
Will also comment that everyone's expectations with regard to performance of a product varies
am personally not influenced by influencers on social media because many are sponsored so there is
bias, JMO

ohhh could you drop your thoughts on Rhode??? I’ve heard mad props for the glazing milk, but since it seems like a thicker essence, I’m unsure where it fits in a routine given that I prefer to apply actives first, close to the skin.
& 111 skin—had it used on me once & I felt like a fetish editorial but it was extra nice. I wanted to bathe in it.

It has the consistency of a lotion.. not heavy or thick but more than an essence or toner would feel like on the skin
I use it after am skin cleansing then apply serum & moisturize
111 skin cellulose masque is a high performing hydrating skin masque.. I use it once a week
usually Sunday & apply night cream afterwards & give my skin a break as I find retinol products
to be somewhat drying

Melanie Simon has a Vitamin C serum that is very stable, but I find it was a bit heavy. I use that as well sometimes. I love skincare. I hope to go to South Korea and buy up allllll the skincare and masks lol.

I have never heard of this line. What products in particular do you like? Thanks.
I have used the eye cream regular and the serum. The gold line is superior. Was in NYC and went to their spa and did the gold facial. Amazing! I still love biologique recherche (toner and crème pigment 400) but Valmont gold line is really good. Amazing hydration and for fine lines 💨.

Also using Nescens serum stem sells (as you can see I love face creams)

Thanks - I saw there is a hotel spa where I live that carries their line and does their facials. Maybe I stop by to see if I can get some samples to try!
