You are stating the obvious. It also takes time to assemble a leather bag, but those don’t seem to be as out of stock as canvas items from what I’ve gathered in this thread.
I am guessing the demand for canvas bags is higher, therefore the shortage? Why they can't raise production a bit though is rather beyond me, unless it's a marketing or long term branding strategy.
There is a reason why both LV and Hermès recently announced the opening of new factories: the growing demand for products and the broad diversification of the brands’ catalogs have put extreme pressure on manufacturing.
I honestly feel bad for people who are just getting into LV now. Just to buy a freaking NF or Speedy, you have to jump through hoops to get one.
I would check the website. I bought the mono pochette accessories yesterday and there were a couple available....This would be me. I never paid much attention to LV to be honest with you but the Pouchette Accessories caught my eye online about month ago. I even went into the store to try it on and to see what it would hold only to find out they had none in stock. Proceeded to call several stores that following monday to find I had to go on a waiting list as no stores had none. Not to mention I had to wait on hold for close to 20 minutes to talk to a live person as they were on other calls. I was disappointed and turned off by the whole experience I just said forget it. If its meant to be I will get one. If not I will find something in Gucci's line. This bag was supposed to be my end of the year gift to myself but I don't like hunting stuff down like this.
Maybe consider calling the Hawaii boutique you will be going to a week or two before you arrive to let them know what you were hoping to find and they can help you? I understand the frustration as two items I wanted to buy in Paris were sold out during my trip in JuneIs this just due to the holiday season? I returned a Neverfull recently (for a super nitpicky reason) and only got store credit for it since I bought it at a Bloomingdales but returned it at a regular boutique. I want to buy it again at some point but the SA told me the credit can't be used online so this means stalking the website won't help. I'm fine waiting until next year if needed (I have a Hawaii trip in Feb so yay, cheaper prices). But now after reading all these threads, I'm worried about availability in the futureI assumed I was safe saving the credit for a Neverfull, since it's one of their classic/iconic bags - I figured it'd always be around. Is this still a safe assumption? lol
Good suggestion, I may do this. I was just banking on the fact that February isn't really tourist season so I would assume less shoppers there. But better to get safe I guess. The Odeon has been discontinued.I know!! I so want the Odeon PM, but it is out of stock everywhere! But, I called and although they can't guarantee when the handmade bags will be back in stock, the Louis Vuitton "specialist" I spoke to said definitely try again "right before the holidays".
Good luck!
It seems canvas bags are going to be limited at best. One thing is clear. If you find availability of an item you are looking for... you should probably PURCHASE it right away!
Maybe there is some truth in the canvas rumors and we may not be able to find canvas bags in the very near future??? I hope this is not the case, but this certainly seems like a possibility.![]()
I might be the minority here, but I don’t like many things this Nicolas guy has been doing to LV. I found many of his designs are overly fashionable, which could fade quickly, and are getting away from true LV heritage.
The Canvas are what make LV LV! LV Canvas are as iconic and classical as Hermes K & B and Chanel flaps. Consumers are apparently not getting tired of them yet. Don’t take away what your customers love!
