I am guessing the demand for canvas bags is higher, therefore the shortage? Why they can't raise production a bit though is rather beyond me, unless it's a marketing or long term branding strategy.
There is a reason why both LV and Hermès recently announced the opening of new factories: the growing demand for products and the broad diversification of the brands’ catalogs have put extreme pressure on manufacturing.

“A few years” ???
Where have you been??
Louis Vuitton has been available to the masses for decades. Certainly since the creation of LVMH. It is no secret that Arnault has worked hard to make Louis Vuitton the most distributed luxury brand on the planet ever since he took control of the business. And honestly, the Marc Jacob years were probably the most aggressive in the expansion of Vuitton.

The earnings report from LVMH (and likely the analytics of this forum) indicates the explosion in popularity of LV within the past three years of a recovering economy that was not experienced with MJ's reign. To add the influence of youtube and the luxury community, LV has become saturated to new heights. Thus, the change in marketing strategy to limit canvas items at present.

I m glad to see that you sit in the LVMH boardroom. ;)
Honestly, there is a lot of hype and rumors on the forum but most of it is BS. When I show this stuff to my SA, he just laughs.

There is a difference between imperfections due to handcraftsmenship and a legitimate defect. It is when you're on your 3rd or 4th pochette metis due to "glazing" issues I tend to question if LV is a brand you can comfortable invest in (and live with a less than perfect bag). It is very difficult for me to believe that an LV bag that has been not only repaired but replaced multiple times can incur such defects. Coach has bags in the $1000-$1500 range now so why should LV be held to such extreme standards?

@fabuleux or anyone else, do you think that in addition to everything that’s been said, the fact that LV now produces so many different models is a factor? My memory may be incorrect but I don’t recall so many different bags out at once years ago. Am I right? You go online now and see bag after bag it’s almost endless. I don’t remember this many years ago.

Yes. I think the rapid expansion of the catalog is definitely a driving factor. Remember when everything LV sold fit in one normal size catalog? Today it would be a phone book!! ;)

I think it’s okay to point out when the pendulum swung too far.
It is fine for people to have an opinion without snarky sarcastic remarks because you feel You have all the answers - which by the way can be taken for being very rude. Just because you disagree does not mean you have to push people around. It is what you do. I value some of what you share here sometimes but wow there are those other times.

So who says the pendulum swung too far - you?
