, do you remember around what time was this? I've been checking the LV US website multiple times today, and it says call for availability whenever I looked.
You wouldn't happen to know if this a worldwide change or just in the US? And is this strategy a permanent thing or just a temporary operational measure because of the lack of stock so are rationing items to the stores etc . Basically is It a coping mechanism for the time being because of stock tension so to speak. Or this is part of a wider marketing thing, whereby they're using measures to maintain branding power desirability and exclusivity. Sorry for the questions and understand if you can't say anymore on it.
I don't know the rationale behind the situation, I have been trying to spot a bag in a certain store in a couple of countries in Europe and the situation seems similar. They are not able to order in Speedy's in DE for example, they know they won't get them restocked immediately, and they also have reduced the reservation period for items that they do have in. The reason for the latter is the proximity of Christmas and the fact that they want to be able to serve better walk in customers, so they said.
argh... this is the reason I refuse to buy Chanel/Hermes. You have to beg for a bag that you are paying $$$$ for. If LV continues to go down this route, I am sure a lot of people will reconsider shopping with them.
Not really sure this is world wide - although I would imagine it trickles everywhere. Sorry I value my SA and the relationship we have to not put out exactly what I was told. They bend over backwards for me so I would like to maintain my loyalty to them. Thanks for understanding. She wanted me to let the forum know the little I did because they are feeling the complaints from everywhere.

It seems like a marketing thing. Why would there be a shortage of canvas? It isn’t as hard to produce as leather since it isn’t made from a living thing. To me, this is all a marketing game in order to increase the brand’s exclusivity. Good thing there are many other great fashion houses to shop from.
I'm hoping I managed to snag the Neverfull MM in DA with RB lining that I've had my eye on for some time. It's been 'Call for Availability' for ages. A local Saks store had it; when I went the next day to get it, it had been sold. The bag has been shown as 'Out of Stock' ever since.
I ordered a bag through Saks, but I saw this morning that the status on the website was back to CFA. I checked back a few times, and managed to buy one. It's back to CFA now. I hope that means that one came in and I managed to buy it, and not that I'm going to get a cancellation e-mail.
I called Saks and they said that it's not a problem to cancel my reservation if the online order does come through. Meanwhile, they're leaving it in the system.

It seems canvas bags are going to be limited at best. One thing is clear. If you find availability of an item you are looking for... you should probably PURCHASE it right away!
Maybe there is some truth in the canvas rumors and we may not be able to find canvas bags in the very near future??? I hope this is not the case, but this certainly seems like a possibility.

If you look at the home page of the LV website nothing in canvas is advertised. The boutiques feature leather bags in prominent displays. So it would appear to be a marketing thing moreso than just a general decrease in stock/supply, especially considering how thin the canvas has gotten over the years.
I honestly feel bad for people who are just getting into LV now. Just to buy a freaking NF or Speedy, you have to jump through hoops to get one.
