I didn't like her interview with the two grifters but that doesn't negate everything else she's done for me

She did a lot for me too.
Mainly, she made it ok for me to come to term that I am a survivor and for that I am grateful.
I did fenfen and there is no way that I would use Mounjaro and the like unless I have diabetes.

I have a huge amount of respect for Oprah. She came from nothing and built an empire in a time when being a WoC and overweight posed tremendous challenges.

IMO she’s made some mistakes and I don’t agree with a lot of what she does, says, or who she promotes. But I have to give her credit for coming up and being successful with so many odds against her.

Fenfen! Thanks @limom. I was trying to remember one of the drugs from years ago that was marketed for weight loss and a lot of ppl were on it at the time. These new drugs -although have different indications remind me of the fenfen era.

I don't know enough about ellen to compare. she was brave to come out when she did. I never heard she had a tough childhood as Oprah did.

Her stepfather molested her. I just googled it. Like I said they both deserve the utmost respect for overcoming what they did respectively, but it shouldn't excuse bad behavior once they hit big.

Oprah put it out there. Her struggles with weight have been ongoing. The combo of diet, medication
& likely a personal trainer worked for her. She's happy.. That's what counts at the end of the
day & the journey she has been on for her weight struggles has come full circle,
People will be relatable to celebs who discuss alcoholism, weight, infertility, disabilities, life's challenges,
drugs, grief etc will find comfort knowing they are not the only ones experiencing various
health issues & there are options to explore.
And at some point in time the "shaming" will come to an end & people will feel OK that they
have found their path to wellness, without being ostracized, JMO
