Has anyone seen the Gelcolors in the Germany colors available for purchase yet? They are on the OPI website but I can't find anywhere that is selling them !

You're right. I can't recall seeing much in the way of gray in Gelcolor - the closest I've seen is the deep gray Nein, Nein OK Fine or the gray-putty of Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh.

I did find a couple promo photos where one of the bottle lids was labeled French Quarter, but it's not listed as one of the available (gel)colors on OPI's website. Here's the URL of one such promo/color wheel photo. http://htboutique.co.uk/media/New_GelColor_Wheel.jpg <-- This image is enormous, because the color names aren't legible in smaller ones. So, I hope this comes through as link and NOT inline...

Thanks for mentioning Nein, Nein OK Fine, as that one hadn't occurred to me. I'll be a bit surprised if the salon has that yet but, if they do, I'll gladly try it out.

My appointment is for tomorrow, so I'll see what goes down. Assuming they don't have Nein, Nein, I'll defer to my manicurist... That is, if she's comfortable trying to create a gray-or-silver by layering, I'll give that a go. If she thinks it's less than clever, I'll pick another color.

Ladies,

If you have Kyoto Pearl as an OPI gelcolor, could you please post swatches of it? Alone or layered with other colours.

I just tried this colour as a regular varnish on top of a Shellac french mani, and it looks stunning - my nails look like pink pearls, with a hint of white shining through at the tips. I think I simply have to invest in the OPI Gelcolor version of Kyoto Pearl, but it would be nice to see some swatches first...

I ended up getting I Have A Herring Problem with Kyoto Pearl on top, and I'm really happy with the results. I always thought Herring Problem looked more blue in the (lacquer) bottle, but the woman doing my nails happened to be wearing it (in Gelcolor) and it looked quite gray.

Kyoto Pearl lightened it up a bit, and gave it a sort of pearlescent finish. That being the case, it also left some visible brushstrokes, like you often see with metallic lacquers. That might be minimized with multiple coats, dunno. I don't think it looks bad, but it's a little different than with some other finishes. It also covered up some of the glitter in the Herring Problem, which was a pleasant surprise. I figured the top color would be too sheer to do so in a single coat.

My manicurist recommended against trying this over Black Onyx... It seems the Gelcolor version of the Black Onyx is considerably sheerer than the lacquer of the same name. She said she used it before and wound up painting four coats to make it opaque. Seems like that'd start to get thick.

I'm hoping to post a couple photos in the next day or two. Any ideas if it'd be better to put them here, or in the Gelcolor swatches thread?

Just wanted to share that in hte newest Elle, an ad shows the 6 new permanent line colors coming out in gel: Cosumelted in the Sun, My Chihuahua Bites, Chick Flick Cherry, Black Cherry Chutney, Romeo & Joliet, Yodel Me on My Cell.

Ladies, has anyone had trouble with the gelcolor Lincoln park after dark? I shook it before using but the color was uneven and a little patchy/sheer even after 3 coats. I'm trying to figure out if I just got a dud bottle or if others have had problems with this color!

I think you have to really shake the crap out of OPIs.

Does anyone notice brittle nails after using the gel colors? I'm thinking of doing my next manicure in gel but I'm a bit weary because I had shellac done and after that my nails were really weak. And I have very strong nails!! Does it really last two weeks? Can you remove it yourself? Thank you!! :)

With proper removal the SOGS do not change or damage your nails at all. That said, it is a good idea to use cuticle oil daily. Most people get two weeks or even more. But we are all unique and YMMV.

aggressive removal causes the most dryness and or damage. Remove with foil wrap method, don't soak and use a remover instead of pure acetone. If you soak nails in plain water for 5 minutes before wrapping it will hydrate your nails with water and less solvent will be absorbed by the actual nail, which will also help, A LOT.

IMG-20121009-01158 (758x1024).jpgI would love to see more color swatches on hands like we see on the gelish forum. This is I'm wired. This mani has been on two weeks and going strong. I'm going to see how one more weeks does.
