OPI Gelcolor

Tried OPI Gelcolor base coat (with shellac color coat). I was very surprised that the base coat was not tacky after curing for 1 min under UV CFL. It was more smooth and dried like a regular nail polish base coat.

It actually made the Shellac go on easier.

I have read many posts stating that OPI Gelcolor is easiest to remove, which is my goal. Gelish is way to hard to remove for me. Leaves bits of base all over, even after a good 10 minute soak off. I currently use Shellac base for every color/brand of SOG, but would switch to OPI if it proved as good or better in removal.

I would love to hear from anyone who uses the opi base and/or topcoat if it really is as easy as shellac to soak off. I've been using gelish - which is very difficult to soak off.

So I've been applying regular polish base before doing my sog manicure for easier removal. Problem is, lateley I seem to only be getting about 4 - 5 days out of my manicure. I get longer wear time if I don't use reg. base coat underneath but soak-off takes forever!

I used to use shellac before I discovered there were all kinds of other gel polishes out there, but I found that it would chip or peel within a week. If opi does soak off as easily I will definitely make the switch.

I started with Shellac and then added in Gelish, ACG, RCM, Geleration, etc. I liked Shellac, but was dissatisfied with the range of colors and the lack of an LED cure, so started using Gelish base and top. It was very hard to remove; ditto with RCM. I must confess however, that I am terribly impatient with sitting and waiting during the soak-off.

When OPI came out, I tried it and was very pleased with the removal. I use Graham Hands Down wraps with Expert Touch remover (very important) and a flax heat pad. OPI comes off cleanly with almost no scraping/pushing. I bought the OPI LED light (fantastic!) and I now use OPI base and top coats with all of my colors and brands. I don't think it is as durable as Gelish, but I usually change colors every week anyway.

YES! YES! YES! Try the opi gelcolor base and top coat and u will not be disappointed. I was just like u and had a horrible time with the gelish base being practically impossible to soak off. It badly damaged my nails. I finally made the switch to opi and havent looked back. I soak in the ExportTouch remover and it soaks off effortlessly. I love it!!!

And Nails Mag also has six of the limited edition"Bond" series coming out as GelColors as well, plus six new colors from the Classics Collection.

I guess OPI will not be making the same mistake CND made with Shellac!

Yup, I saw that and thought the same thing. What a great color selection!

I like OPI Gelcolor ok, I'd like to like it more, but I get shrink back from the tips. I don't get shrinking with Shellac. I do like he OPI Gelcolor color seleciton better than CND. CND comes out with a few clears or nearly clears and maybe three new actual colors every year. Just not enough!

Where have you all been purchasing your OPI gelcolors? (if you're just an individual, not a licensee or professional). (Sorry if already asked but I couldn't find it)! Thanks!

I am able to get OPI GelColor from a few local nail supply stores. You might check your area to see if there are any you could buy from. It's nice to be able to see the colors and talk to the owners who know a lot about the products.
