One Birkin to Rule Them All

I only have one B, and it's my etain B30 PHW. I'm really glad it's a neutral and gray really does go with everything and is good in all seasons. It's a true gray but in certain lighting it has a slight lilac undertone. I adore GHW but the PHW looks so good with etain.

But I really think it's what color/combo brings you the most happiness. I usually don't like gray bags but etain is so beautiful.

It ages beautifully,
spa can do miracles for it,
H chose it first for the orignial Birkin,
as Jane Birkin demonstrated it can be worn oh so casually
or slightly more up scale,
its one of the lightweight leathers (bye bye barenia) and
once in your hands you won't want to let it go.

Gold is mine but would not turn my back on ebene, olive and black as they go with what hangs in the closet. Sad they are so rare.

It would be B25 Noir RGHW. I don't think I can afford to use B as work or daily bag so B25 fits everything I need for special occasions

Notice the shoulder strap which was also present in some HACs that were made until the '90s.



I don't know why it was removed from the Birkin but I believe it was removed from the HAC because they were deemed structurally unsound. Bags kept on being sent to the spa for repairs. I guess the reason is the same. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

B30 Chevre Mysore SO in Gris T/Etain. Love everything Chevre Mysore, B30 is the perfect size for me, and it was my first SO (a memorable experience that I'd treasure forever).

I have a B35 in togo brique, but if I could only do one, probably a B30 in black or gold with ghw. I want to say black but if I was asked the same question about a Kelly it would be black too haha.

It's a shame about that, but I can imagine why that would be so.
Just imagine the weight and the stress at those points.

I wish for longer handles (like the B shoulders) so I can shoulder-carry my Bs - it will alter the look but I'm happy to overlook this for better functionality!

For a B35 I agree with you. I love the size but the weight doesn’t love my back sadly. If the handles were just an inch taller it would fit comfortably on my shoulder when the weight of arm carry gets too much for my dodgy back!

As it stands I’m really happy with my B30 Clemence in Ebene PHW. Neutral colour that goes with anything in my wardrobe, not as stark as black in the summer, no concerns over marks, colour transfer or rain, weight isn’t an issue and she’s soft and squidgy! Love her and can’t think of a better alternative (although if I could have a second I wouldn’t say no to a fauve Barenia B30)

there used to be a Birkin 45 but it has long been discontinued
