I personally never take it as a snide remark when someone asks me if it's real. I think the preconceived notion is that they ARE unobtainable unless you thor $10,000 or more at someone. I was trying to keep track of my bags last night and then tried to remember what I'd paid for each one...God help me, I don't think I'd ever admit to anyone who wasn't another fellow Hermes addict what I'd paid total - nobody in the real world would possibly understand. It's not the money spent, it's the beauty they add to my life and the happiness I feel when I pick one before heading out the door. Simple pleasures...and luck of circumstance being in a position to buy one, or two, or four!
