That really stinks that your wallet was stolen, I can imagine how disappointing that is, especially because they don't make that color anymore. I'm really sorry that happened to you! Hopefully you'll have an enjoyable trip this weekend and be able to find a new wallet that you like just as well....good luck!

I see this in a different light I guess than most of you. LV isn't giving the OP anything free, LV got full compensation from FED Ex guaranteed! I personally think LV should provide the zippy wallet in exchange. Giving the fact the zippy was less than $80 more when she originally purchased her insolite wallet! For goodness sake, Vuitton makes enough money off the OP as it is, just think if they had done the right thing and allowed the exchange for the zippy, the OP would have been less heart broken that her insolite was stolen or lost and LV would have come out smelling like a rose and had a customer for life! OP is going to remember each time she pulls her new wallet out what happened and each time she buys a new LV item in the future how LV handled this situation. This is NOT good customer service IMO!

What happened to you is unfortunate but it's not LV's fault this happened. The fact it went missing while FedEx had it was beyond their control. They are giving you a brand new wallet to replace your year-old one - it may not be the color you bought originally, but I can't see why they should have to compensate you for any more than the value of what you had stolen. I think what LV are offering you is fair.

I think that they should replace the wallet with something comprable and I don't see where $80 bucks wouldn't be considered in the same price bracket!!!

I think they should comp you the wallet that you want. I agree, it's not like you're trying to rake them over the coals!!!

I know it's not their fault it was stolen...it will however be their fault if they don't handle it well. LV can eat $80 bucks once a day and not even feel it!!!!

I totally agree with southerncharm. I would cal there handling of you as a customer; 'blowing you of'. Every customer should count, regardless how much money the customer spent on there items. It could be the customers' very hard earned money, and everyone deserves total respect. Their behaviour makes me sick to my stomach  I would NEVER accept it :nono:

I think LV is being more than fair. They are offering you full price on a wallet that has been used for a year. It's not their fault fed-ex lost it.

If you want a more expensive and nicer wallet than the insolite, I think you should pay the difference to be honest. They are giving you full credit for a wallet that now would be worth at least one-third less than what it was (depreciation) and although I know you loved your wallet, I think that's more than fair to be honest.

I agree with the other posters who feel that LV is handling this correctly. I do understand that you're upset and I would be too, but you should be upset with fedex, not LV. It truly isn't their fault. You may find this a blessing in disquise as the insolite is not known for good long-term wear (which shows in that it already needed repair in a year's time). My SA never recommends that wallet and there is good reason it's been discontinued. You've got lots of money now to put towards a really nice wallet that will last you for years. Sometimes I think things happen which can be so upsetting at the time and make us so sad and upset and then we look back and realize it's for the best. I think it you let it, and really enjoy your new wallet, this may be one of those times.

So sorry this happened though!

wow.. I didn't know that about the insolite! maybe if someone told me that I wouldn't have bought that one in the first place! I appreciate everyone's comments, I can understand LV's point of view, but what if this happened to one of my expensive bags, like my $2000 ursala bag that I heard is being discontinued, I would be outraged, I hope I never need another repair!!

That sucks, so sorry it happened to you :(

I really hope I don't get bashed for this but I feel LV is being fair by offering you a credit for the original cost of the wallet that is a year old. Yes I know it isn't replaceable to you and it's sad that they don't have the same one anymore, but you used it for a year and get the full retail price back and I personally would be happy with that compensation.

But I agree with this. I don't see how it's LV's fault that Fedex screwed up, and see no reason why they should offer more than what was originally paid. Just my opinion.

well, just heard from the LV company and they said if I wanted a wallet that cost more than my original I have to pay the difference and they will give me a store credit, I have to say I am disappointed I thought they would be accomodating but I was wrong! it makes me feel a little different towards LV now, they lost my wallet, it was their fault and they don't even care! oh well, off to the boutique this weekend to pick out a new wallet! :) thanks everyone!!
I'm not surprised - LV really doesn't care about it's customers at a corporate level virtually at all. I'm glad you got the full credit back though - I'm sorry you can't get the wallet you really love, I hope you find something even more fabulous!

They probably did the minimum that was required of them. These items are shipped insured after all, so the value of the item is paid to them if lost in transit. They are not losing any money by giving you the same amount credit. However, I think for the sake of preserving good customer relations, they could have given you additional good-will credit.
