i think the hermes craftsmen will always be able to tell,
i know somebody who bought a crocodile birkin for 35000 usd from her friend, it looked authentic in every way, but when she had it sent to paris to get it authenticated, when it came back, it was delivered in a fedex document package, completely destroyed...

WOW!:wtf:

Sometimes I wonder if some of these "super fake" stories I hear about on the internet are urban legends. I have been researching Hermes items and handbags in general on the internet for several years and have still never seen a picture of one that doesn't somehow look off. If anyone has a picture of a super-fake that has passed for authentic I'd like to see it posted.

hm..what can I say.
I am not good at telling the authenticity. So, for people like me in China, I would say, 95% would not be able to Tell the difference especially when it comes to BIRKIN, such a rarely owned purse by people here. But, the situation for BIRKIN is slightly better than other brands like LV, GUCCI, or Dior. The funny thing here is that whenever we saw a lady carrying a designer bag, the first impression is that, it must be fake. Then we look at the dressing, or all the appearance of the girl, then we might go to a conclusion about if it is "not fake".
I do not own any HERMES handbag. I have been dreaming about getting one. I have not ever thought about getting a fake one although it is so easy to get one here. I actually know there are factories making LV, Gucci, or HERMES in the country. And I know that, the only difference you would be able to tell is the interior. They never use good material for that part.
But, even when the manufacturers can fix that problem, the fake ones still can't be acceptable to me.
I mean, after all the effort of getting on the list (they close the waitlist in China, you have to get in the mysterious inside circle) and saving money, it is just ridiculous to buy a fake one then.

I heard about some Korean Hermes copier that had a factory with all of it's workers being ex-Hermes craftsman. I will try to find some more info. on it. My BF was telling me about it. She knows their website, I believe.

I totally agree with you on this.

There are tons of websites that offer "authentic" bags...only problem is when you look at them...and the price. I mean, anywhere from $350-18,000? Who would believe it? I was looking at one site, out of curiosity, and they had a description of a JPG, and it said it had a pocket in the front of the bag. Mine doesn't...and as I purchased it from a Hermes Boutique I am certain mine is authentic. Just got out of the site...and took off the cookie...

I find it very hard to believe that an Hermes craftsman would EVER go to work in a Korean fake factory. And what would be the point anyway? If they still were to make the bags by hand, they could not magically speed up the process. So instead of making on average 2 bags a week that would sell for an average of USD 6000, they would now make still two bags a week that sell fo USD 300? You can do the math and see that it just doesn't make sense financially. I believe that this is an Urban myth.

I did read on one site that they actually took apart a birkin and kelly to figure out how to make it.

That is so sad:crybaby: :crybaby:

by the way, if you are ever curious and look at these sites, be sure to disable your cookies or you will be bombarded with ads for replica bags and watches until the day they put you in the ground!

As someone new to this site and looking to buy their 1st Birkin, I am disgusted that people will actually make and sell fake bags and also try to sell them on as authentic.

Not having much knowledge on what to look for with a fake, I am now terrified at purchasing on line.

It really is appalling that these people who sell fakes put people of buying on line and therefore penalising the 'real' authentic sellers.

I would hope that Hermes document each and every bag they create? I assume(does anyone here know) that the blindstamps are unique to a particular bag? Each car has a vin#; I think that a company such as Hermes has ways to verify each bag;no matter how good the fake?

I have been wondering about shooting star birkins showing upon e-bay, or online stores. 35 or 30cm togo gold. If the bags are made by craftsmen for their own personal use why are they all the same color, leather, and bag?

Puhlease, of course they are urban legends. They might be "super fake" for the uninitiated, but as soon as you put the bag next to the real thing... there's something off there, you know?
