Media outlets have been saying Michelle is becoming a style ICON for this generation like Jackie O was for the 60's, not that she dresses exactly like Jackie O.

Maybe that not subtle, but very clear, distinction doesn't seem apparent to you?

Time and time again the point is made that Michelle is a modern woman and she dresses like that. She mixes high end couture with ready to wear and even retail just like many women today. She dresses nothing like Jackie O, her fashion is entirely current and not of the past. That is what makes her unique and an icon in her own right!

This is an open topic and I'm free to disagree with your ideas. Could you imagine every thread we had we'd just agree with eachother? Besides you expressed your critcisms of people in my thread so why are YOU there? Stop with your bias I'm aloud to say I don't like Michelle's outfit just like you said you didn't like Palin's outfit.

Does anyone know who makes the black skirt Michelle is wearing in the second pic?

I really like Michelle's hair in the last pic and the purple dress looks awesome on her!

The Obamas can pull off bright colors like no other! I love their whole family!

As for the Jackie O comment, everyone should just ignore it. It was not an original comment. It is a direct quote from Ann Coulter, a conservative commentator/author. The comment was obviously made to stir things up here.

Frankly, none of us really care whether her style was "taken" from Jackie O or not. Makes no difference. Michelle's style is fabulous.

Lets not let others opinions attempt to close this thread. Stick to the clothing and style and ignore the obvious attempt to sabotage this thread.

So, anyone with any new pictures? I think she looks great in purple.

^ I love that black outfit so much. I think it's perfect for the occasion. Not too flashy but not boring and overly conservative either. Anyone know who designed this?

I love her style! I think the bold colors and classic lines are her thing. I like the way she coordinates newer hip style with classic cuts which makes her look totally up to date and unmatronly.

Melia looks like a model in the making. :girlsigh:

Jackie O's style was suited for the 60's era, Nancy Regan was suited for the 80's and Michelle ***** will be the icon for this generation. I think she looks great. I wasn't a fan of the lemongrass suit at first, but after seeing close-up pics of it, I have since changed my mind about it. The inaugural gown was beautiful. :heart:

Great thread! I hadn't seen many of these pictures before. Michelle has amazing style. It does appear that Jackie O has had some influence in her style. Jackie O is my all-time favorite style icon, women around the world "steal" from her, including me! Nothing wrong with that...
