These fakes are like 99% close to real, I'm so afraid of buying a fake now

I saw a fake black Rogue not long ago but it was a baaaad fake. No stitching on hangtags, leather looked plasticized, shoulder straps looked cheap. Just terrible. But yes, certainly the increase of good fakes is scary for anyone who buys on the secondary market (or even from department stores that don't know product well/don't check to verify returned items).

The secondary market are full of fake Swaggers that're sometimes very close to the original! I'm really just sticking to the stores, and checking things carefully to make sure they feel right. People can be so dishonest...

What is going on here where everyone is panicking about Coach Fakes? Is something going over my head? I, personally, have only purchased (other than directly from Coach or major retailers) from EBay, and never had a problem. Of course, I'm extra careful about monitoring the Seller's ratings and the pics they display. I can't guarantee that I will never be duped, but I go with my gut feeling, and if items are priced way too good to be true, they WILL be fakes.

Plus, if I'm in doubt, I'll have the great TPF authenticators help me. I guess since I never purchase the older vintage bags (used), I am only dealing with NWT and/or barely carried models from the last ten years or less -- maybe they're easier to spot if they're fakes.

I didn't realize that possible fakes could show up unrecognized, in a department store, by clueless cashiers that unwittingly accepted fake returns by a con artist...that IS scary!

Where did you see these baaad fakes, I'm curious?

It was on ebay. I did report it and it ebay had removed it next time I went to look. As I said, it was obvious. Stitching was missing where there should be stitching, including on hangtags, "leather" was smooth super, super shiny (it was black), so much so that it looked plastic, it claimed to be a first gen and showed a brass lock (inside bag) but the hardware was black.

I'm glad at least EBay removed it! Sadly, all those signs of Fakeness (?) are easily detected by saavy Coach fans like yourself. I feel bad for the clueless victims -- they need to get educated on TPF! :giggle:

This was a big story not too long ago! She was caught, charged, and convicted, but I doubt she is the only one - she just did it on a large scale:

This does ring a bell -- maybe I even read it on here by another (or you?) poster. It makes me wonder how much good she could do for the world if she converted that criminal, greedy motive to a more kind, humane cause. She's certainly industrious and creative -- even enterpreneurial, gotta give her that! Hopefully, she comes to a similar conclusion while she's sitting behind bars!

PS - Thx for the link!
