Saw Chene at the boutique last week, prefer it over Noce, it's warmer...
The corded Venetas remind me of Flax seed tortilla chips, but I like them
.
Oh, lucky you to have seen the corded Cabat in person! If I weren't bent on finding a darker (probably nero) Cabat, I'd probably really want it--assuming it's even available in medium size. The catalog has the large, I think.
For those who don't have the catalog yet, I'm referring to the neutral-brown Cabat that was featured in one of the runway photos here (the model is female, wearing white with spectator oxford shoes). There was speculation that it was an exotic because of the textured look from afar, but it's listed as nappa. The texture comes from open windows of fettuce with the nero cord running through. The handles are nero. It's really interesting-looking and a great neutral--I could see myself using it a lot in spring/summer if I didn't already have my orchid. But the cutouts in the fettuce make me wonder how durable it would be, but maybe the cording is there to add strength.
EDITED TO ADD: oh, here it is, from jula's original post:
As for the flax seed tortilla chip reference, I completely understand what you mean. That's hilarious! I think it's because the catalog shows them as having a more triangular outline than their usual mushed/twisted handle pose.
I don't think the Venetas are corded, though (unless I missed the corded ones in the catalog, which is entirely possible because I flipped through it quickly). The ones I saw seem to have a stitched similar to the marcapunto treatment--and they're described as calf, too.
